Nice Going Governor.. 15 an hour for Fast Food Workers across the State of New York. oh boy.....

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Lets see......

Just can't wait for food prices across the state to suddenly go up drastically effectively nullifying the difference made. So much for getting ahead while having the distinct privilege of paying more taxes for your new found wealth. Government will be happy happy happy.
Speaking of happy.....

20 dollar happy meals perhaps?

Will retail and service sector jobs make a stink as well? Unified call for minimum 15 wage across the board for all minimum wage workers everywhere???

Oh wait a minute....

More business packing up and saying screw you New York. Unemployment more unemployment.....

Sorry workers. Help will soon not be wanted. All positions filled.

Clicky source linky thing......

Ahem..

So what does the discerning customer expect from a 15 dollar an hour fast food employee?

Will my order finally be made right for once with everything that was ordered, and asked for?

Will the food be fresher and consequently taste better than serving something sitting under a heat lamp for several hours?

I now demand a retroactive reimbursement from all the years I had to work at a minimum wage job at a measly 3.50 an hour. :0°

I'm done.

Your turn.......

you don't need 1 dollar burgers , fast food should not be considered a cheap necessity and the economy does not need 1 dollar burgers

an increase in fast food workers pay does not effect the price of groceries or rent, but does increase a fast food workers ability to pay both

You're right. The sky is falling. The only possible answer to to manipulate demand ...

perhaps by reducing population ...

perhaps by exiling the right wing lunatic fringe to Texas.
I suspected you might join in Jay .... x0D

Always welcome in my book.

Your right.

I prefer 30 cent ones. Used to be what they cost. Loong ago.

did you have a rational point to make ?

Yes. Other than clear cut and dried health and safety issues, the government should really stop it's intrusive manipulation and meddling involving private businesses for a change. It's literally suffocating the economic life out of this state.

But we will see. Right?

Mom & Pop shops in LA basically had to let the hired help go and just work longer and harder to deal with the wage increase.

People will probably stop going out as often to restaurants, Least that's less gas usage.
Then there's the issue like in Seattle where people are asking to work less hours so they don't lose any government assistance benefits.

Businesses will just need to find cheaper ways to produce their product. Automation, lower quality food. Places like Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, great opportunity for them.

Do you're grocery shopping at Amazon, save money and even more gas. That's the ingenuity part of it. Smart folks will figure out how to make it work for them.

You just got to be smarter than the average bear....

So, where does the money come from to pay minimum $15 wages to fast food workers? Fast food customers would be the answer. And the result; a shrinking number of jobs in a shrinking industry because of fewer customers. No net win for anyone there as I see it.

I view California and New York as the same here. Highly over regulated and taxed to death states. Hard to tell sometimes which one is worst.

No. Goverment is a huge problem. A good sizable sum goes toward meeting compliance and regulatory standards set by the government in many cases. What happens? Less efficiency with increased costs that are passed on to the customer of goods and services provided.

Greed I'll give you. Business or goverment take your pick, will grab as much as it possibly can from you whenever it can using any means available wether by hook or crook.

Indeed. As a California native, I have noticed that our state's repressive policy of insisting on paying everyone has choked out business and completely put us behind everywhere in the world, making it impossible to find a burger to eat.

Oh no wait. We own everything. And everyone is moving here. And we invented fast food.

It's almost as though Republican doomsaying isn't rooted in economic reality.
