The U.S. Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in a case brought by Arizona state Republicans and members of the state Senate against Mi Familia Vota, and Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D). The ruling provides that those registering to vote must provide proof of citizenship.

The Ninth Circuit covers much of the western U.S. including California. Therefore this ruling applies to multiple states.

In today's world people have to have an ID to do so many things. I can't imagine not having one.

Voter registration must have proof of citizenship, as it should be IMO.

That sounds sensible and reasonable as it greatly ensures that only citizens can vote.

Keeps it honest.

Does your ID provide proof of citizenship?
If you have a real ID it should being you have to show proof of citizenship to obtain one.

To obtain a the federally compliant “REAL ID” driver license or identification card you will need documentation showing United States citizenship or lawful presence as required by federal law. Lawful presence means that a person is legally living in the United States according to federal immigration laws.

Its always been a law that you have to testify that you are a citizen to be able to register to vote by federal law and can be prosecuted if found lying. Requiring proof only seems natural.

There's been rarely and hardly any trickery as it is, certainly not enough to throw an election.
"Not enough" Any is too much. This will even hopefully make it less
It's likely to disenfranchise many minority voters.
If those voters have a job, a drivers license, a social security number, a primary Dr, take certain meds, a bank account, etc they must show who they are with a picture ID or birth certificate.

How is this going to inconvenience them?

Yes we all know what Trump has done
Did you see me bring up Trump?
Your post is moot.

As I said, any is too many.

"The Heritage Foundation’s analysis of legal actions regarding election conduct found only 24 instances of noncitizens voting between 2003 and 2023.
A study conducted by the Brennan Center for Justice analyzing 23.5 million votes across 42 jurisdictions in the 2016 general election concluded that there were approximately 30 instances of noncitizens casting votes.
Illegal voting, including by noncitizens, is routinely investigated and prosecuted by the appropriate authorities, and there is no evidence that noncitizen voting has ever been significant enough to impact an election’s outcome."

The current concern in Arizona is that about 80% of the registered voters in the sate have to re-register in order to vote in November. And this does cause inconvenience for groups such as college students and newly naturalized citizens neither of which may have easy access to official proof of citizenship.

The point is that he paid people to find evidence of voting by non-citizens and after two years they couldn't find even one
As I said, any is too many.
there is zero

except when you look at the cases only one of them involved non-citizens voting. specifically Josef Sever a citizen of Canada who has lived in Florida since childhood

the reports uses the word estimated not approximately. the estimations were obtained by election officials and at no tiem were they able to identify any non-citizen voting

Real solution:

Step 1 - Institute a national identification card
Step 2 - Automatically register all citizens with a national ID card to vote when they come of age
Step 3 - Make voting mandatory for all citizens
Bonus Round - institute nationwide ranked choice voting
