Yes its digusting, theres no excuse for it and a good example of why religion has no place Law and Government

You say "religion" as though all religions were alike. There are very important differences between Islam and Christianity. Christianity has not had a harmful influence on law or governent.

Friend kingcores,

Except islam no other religion has civil laws.
Religion is a path or a way to discover the self as so it is an individual and personal matter BUT islam ????

sharia - the code of law derived from the Koran and from the teachings and example of Mohammed; "sharia is only applicable to Muslims"; "under Islamic law there is no separation of church and state"

I'm reading this over and over again and just wondering how can this be possible.

".... The law gives a husband the right to withdraw basic maintenance from his wife, including food, if she refuses to obey his sexual demands. It grants guardianship of children exclusively to their fathers and grandfathers. It requires women to get permission from their husbands to work. It also effectively allows a rapist to avoid prosecution by paying "blood money" to a girl who was injured when he raped her...."

Whole article here;

Afghanistan: Law Curbing Women’s Rights Takes Effect | Human Rights Watch

:sad:

They don't value woman as people but as properties and commodities. Like how slaves were treated in the 1800s.

Actually your statement is incorrect. See Halakha (Jewish civil law), Hindu law, Bahai Laws etc. All of them encompass areas linked with social and practical life like family, property etc. Also note that the reason why Christianity has no civil law on similar lines (although for the orthodox it does have canon law) is not linked to the religion itself but is probably linked to Paul's oposition to Jewish customs.

Regards.

Friends,

Thats evolution!
As friend Cheese declares:
they now have coca cola in Afghanistan....
Besides when each human gets more educated they will become aware of their rights etc. It is slowly happening.

We humans normally react to situations BUT if each of us RESPOND to it then the process of evolution will fasten.
