Genesis 6:15 (King James Version)
"And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length
of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits,
and the height of it thirty cubits"

From what I understand, (1) biblical Cubit was about 18"

300 Cubits long . 300*18" = 5,400" 5,400"/12"= 450' 450'/3= 150 yards long (one and a half football fields long)
50 Cubits wide 50*18"= 900" 900"/12"= 75' 75'/3 = 25 yards wide
30 cubits deep 30"*18"= 540" 540"/12"= 45' 45'/3= 15 yards deep

nevermind, magic dust would have been needed anyway, but I am just bored enough to bother with it right now.

Correct: once you accept an omnipotent deity, any absurdity is possible, but that renders the story no less absurd.
Actually, I do not find the story absurd. It is far more absurd to believe that intelligent life developed in a non intelligent Universe by mere accident.

The Bible says that the FLOOD (worldwide) happened. The Bible also says that the FLOOD (worldwide) will never happen again. There is clear evidence that planet Earth was hit by some very big meteors/asteroids. I feel that alone could have triggered a rupturing of the earth's crust, and sent shockwaves out that would have misplaced the water in the ocean, and caused catastrophic volcanic eruptions, and massive earthquakes great enough to reshape the entire planet and cause The FLOOD.

Your smiley suggests that you're being facetious....is that a correct assumption?

However, even if they had the help of god, the boat is too small to fit all the animals inside of it, and also too big and oddly shaped for it to float on water. Did god shrink all the animals to fit inside it? .
Haven't you ever been to the circus when the little clown car came out and all the clowns crawled out of a car barely big enough to hold 1 clown?

God is going to smack me.

1) God throws lighting...he dosn't smack.....
2) With the number of species neccessary to have two of each and the Bible stateing it was 450 feet long x 75 wide x 45 tall (genesis 6:15 niv) to make the analogy accuate one would have to fit hundreds of clowns into that vw
3) Did they fast for 40 days and nights and if not which animals were sacrificed to save the herd?
4) how did the plants survive?

1. Maybe His aim is off then because the trees in my yard have been struck several times. Or maybe He's been warning me.
2. Yes, but He is God so He's able to fit far more "clowns" in the car than humans can.
3. That's the part of the story that isn't told. Noah really took 3 of each animal and the third was dinner.
4. Lots of rain, plenty of manure, plenty of carbon dioxide from all the animals.

1) Or maybe the trees were thinking smack about him and you are a little further down his list
2) God didn't put the animals on a boat Noah did
3) You do realize that there are holes in the story which is why there "untold parts"
4) Noah didn't put any plants on the boat in Genesis and all most plants would drown after being underwater for that period of time.

1. In this case, that makes me feel so much better. Electricity is bad for my hair.
2. Ahh...but under God's direction so he probably snuck in a little help with the shoehorn.
3. Well, of course, it would be boring if we didn't have to figure some of it out on our own.
4. That's another of the untold stories. Noah's wife added the plants to spruce up the place and decorate, but since she was just a lowly woman, her story wasn't told.

Hmmm...I'm thinking maybe a lightning rod in my front yard might not be a bad idea.

We`ve got another thread somewhere on the Flood and Noah

Actually, they were in the ark for nearly a year. I do believe that of the clean kinds/species there were to be seven individuals of each taken on the ark. There is nothing suggesting that all the animals were fully grown. All Noah was to take on the Ark were land animals. No marine (fresh or salt) was to be taken on the Ark. Marine life accounts for a huge chunk of the total species/kind picture.
God sent the animals to Noah and they would likely be the select breeders. Migratory and hibernation habits may both reflect the memory of the Flood.

The penguins walked to the mid-east?
How`d the kangaroos get there?
Polar Bears?
What about the T-Rex? (Would T-Rex be considered "clean"? There could`ve been 7 of them on there.)

The annual marsupial migration between Australia and Mt. Ararat is often viewed as diagnostic. Many watch with wonder as the Koala meets up with the Antarctic Penguin and, some time later, the South American Armadillo, to retrace its passage to the mountains of Eastern Turkey.

Plants may have survived in part on vast mats of vegetation that would have floated as debris amongst floating trees and any wood, etc....

I have no doubts that the land surface of planet Earth had an entirely different configuration. I am not held to the geologic time/line theories. The FLOOD was very likely the undoing of many species.

No, you impress me as being remarkably free of any constraint imposed by scientific knowledge.
Theory devised by man is not superior to Divine revelation. Theory masquerades as scientific, which makes people assume that it is more sophisticated----it isn't. It is not necessary either logical or true. Most often it is only convenient.

Define "Theory" for me LittleNipper
Theory --- a speculative formulation of underlying principles of certain humanly observable phenomena that have been verified using limited means. It is the principle of a science rather than its practical application.

Whose revelation? How do you distinguish bewteen revelation and belief in a very old story with very clear folk origins?

A folk tale changes from story teller to story teller. The Bible clearly has had its share of writers and yet its fabric, continuity, direction, and purpose remains steadfastly perfect. This is unheard with a folk tale. The places change from person to person. The characters change from person to person and so does the emphasis. Moses spoke to GOD personally. He was also the prince of Egypt.
