Songbird
She rules her life like a bird in flight
Welcome, visitors from other places! As with all of my ideas, I stole this gem from someone. He doesn't mind. Enjoy!
The Rules:
As its title may suggest, the cardinal rule of this particular discussion is that no comment is allowed to have anything even remotely to do with the one immediately preceding it (perhaps not unlike many discussions you may have participated in previously). However, violators of this critical quality guideline in the present discussion, upon discovery, are sentenced to tracking one of the more obnoxious discussions on RF for the next six months.
Our Pledge:
"I solemnly swear. In addition, I pledge to observe, with all diligence, the recognized rules and guidelines of this discussion, and to establish a positive example for those who share my non-sequiturian convictions and whose comments may not follow my own. Upon risk of severe and long-established penalties, I will at all times boldly resist the temptation to substitute brevity for levity, logic for inanity, reason for insanity, and criticisms for witticisms. I further pledge to support the worthy cause of illiteration by mixing metaphors, mangling maxims, assaulting semantics, subverting syntax, perverting punctuation, and normalizing neologisms. Finally, I will exalt and uphold the sacred Latin definition of my cause, `does not follow', by being a leader, and may that acronym of my legacy be forever inscribed in the records of the race of life: `DNF'."
*******************************************************
Here are some helpful hints on avoiding penalties in this discussion:
1) Google "non sequitur definition".
2) Invoke "Revoltingest's Rule" [brief sequiturian comments in brackets that do not contain the word "bacon"]. To be used only if you have no self-discipline and can't "resist" posting a reply.
3) Use an irrelevant "buffer" comment (IBC) before posting a meaningful, "sequitur" reply to a previous post.
4) Wait for someone else to post a bonafide non sequitur before you comment on the previous post.
5) Don't post anything at all, and pretend you did . . .
