Norway or Canada

Convince me to not emigrate to either. Because either look wonderful right now. I'm kinda through with this place. Totally burnt out.

British Columbia comes to mind. I've wanted to and intend on visiting there. I was just recently looking up condos in Harrison Springs. I would like to visit the Prince George area as well.

Should be obvious to anyone who knows me by now. I just want to move either to a place with a lot of sasquatches or a lot of black/death metal (maybe both).

I've never been to Norway and know too little about it. What I've heard sounds good. On the other hand, back in the 60's and 70's I had fantasies of emigrating to British Columbia. I've always liked Canada.

I like and owe the U.S.A. more. I think I'll spend my few more years trying to make it a little better while visiting Canada when I can.

Why do some people think they can just up and emigrate? All countries have laws pertaining to immigration. Sometimes it is totally impossible.
I would have been out of here by now if it was easy.

I hate that... "If you don't like it here, you can leave." No. No, I really can't.

I think Canada would be easier.

Expected answer from the likes of me

Well..... Canada is cold and full of bears..... big bears, some of the nastiest bears...grizzly bears and some polar bears too

Norway is cold and full of people......big people, some of the nastiest people.....Vikings

Serious answer
Canada is having a rather large homeless and undocumented immigration problem.... but to immigrate there, if you are younger, you need to be employable, preferably in some job they prefer, or you can't stay longer than 6 months on the visa you can obtain, and then you need to return to wherever you are from for a bit before you can return

Norway, to immigrate, again you must be in some career they want, and you will need to stay there, and only there for, I think it is 2 years, learn the language, pass a tests, and then you can stay...otherwise you got to go

Basically you just can't walk in, sit down and stay.... unless you want to be there illegally and homeless in Canada, or if they find you in Norway, they ship you out.

If I were a younger man, in IT, like I was when I was a younger man.... I would have left for Norway long ago..... but alas, when I was there, it was to late, to many responsibilities here.

Stay in USA.
The sky won't fall.
And Trump's behavior in office will likely
cause the pendulum to swing back the
other way in 2028.
By staying, there's no need to learn a
new language....like adding "eh" to the
end of every sentence.

Another problem with Norway.....
If you put lutefisk under your porch to
keep skunks away, you'll have the problem
of attracting Norwegians under your porch.

Vancouver for me. Nice climate and (reportedly) the best Chinese food. The language barrier would make Norway wrong for me. Admittedly the Scandinavians do speak very good English (at least they do in Denmark, I been there to visit my sister). But it seems at the very least polite to try to learn the local language if I were to take up permanent residence. And the languages have very difficult vowel sounds, to those not born to them.

I've covered the practical difficulties in another post, so I won't repeat them. In my own case the only real possibility is the UK, as I'm a citizen. But it would be more difficult to take my SO, who isn't. But then I assume this is really more about "where would you like to go" isn't it?

I know what it is and have no intention of ever eating it. But Norwegians under my porch? Cool.

I'm pretty sure I have eaten it, though I don't remember the name. I was warned not to get any on my fingers as it's very hard to remove the smell. I liked the taste though.

Oh and don't forget Aquavit... disgusting stuff... national drink of Norway too...... how something made from potatoes can be so bad.... I don't know

Oh and another thing about Canada..... it is no secret I am no fan of American bacon...... but Canadian bacon..... REALLY...it is not only disgusting....like bacon..... but it is a cheap knockoff.... it is just thinly sliced, over cook, overly salty ham....YUCK!!!!

In Canada they butcher baby seals

In Norway they like to kill whales

Both are centres of animal abuse

Kind of puts me off as they otherwise seem like good places, minus the slaughter

I have my reasons. I think you may know enough about me to figure out why I would contemplate such a thing.
