"NRA Issues Call for White Supremacy and Armed Insurrection"

"Take a look at the ad below and ask whether the National Rifle Association can go any lower. Ponder this flagrant call for violence, this insidious advocacy of hate delivered with a sneer, this threat of civil war, this despicable use of propaganda to arouse rebellion against the rule of law and the ideals of democracy.

On the surface this is a recruitment video for the National Rifle Association. But what you are really about to see is a call for white supremacy and armed insurrection, each word and image deliberately chosen to stir the feral instincts of troubled souls who lash out in anger and fear:

Disgusting. Dishonorable. Dangerous. But also deliberate. Everything deplored by the NRA in the ad is committed by “they” — a classic manipulation turning anyone who disagrees with your point of view into “The Other” — something alien, evil, foreign.

“They use their media to assassinate real news,” “They use their schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler,” “They use their movie stars and singers and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again.”

“And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance.”

Well, we all know who “they” are, don’t we? This is the vitriol that has been spewed like garbage since the days of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, blasted from lynch mobs and demagogues and fascistic factions of political parties that turn racial and religious minorities into grotesque caricatures, the better to demean and diminish and dominate.

Look again at the ad. Ask yourself: What kind of fools are they at the NRA to turn America into a killing ground for sport? To be choked with hate is a terrible fate, and it is worst for those on whom it is visited.

Take one more look, and ask: Why do they get away with it? What is happening to us? How long do we have before the fire this time?"

What is wrong with it? It all rings true to me. And there is no mention of White supremacy anywhere at all. Sounds like people are just reading into it what they want, which isn't really there.

But then I'm an evil social conservative.

What I think is really on point is the article's characterization of the members the NRA is trying to recruit; more people like themselves.

"each word and image deliberately chosen to stir the feral instincts of troubled souls who lash out in anger and fear"

You mean like the leftists who go out and riot because Milo is giving a lecture?

This happens on both sides.

It's a bunch of bull**** demonizing liberals (although not by name) and all but calling for violence against them. There are far too many idiots in America who will believe its message. That's what's wrong with it.

I'm not saying that buying guns is a good way to deal with the problem, but the fact is that people are doing what was said in the video. They are ever-protesting, calling Trump Hitler etc. Like Trout said: it makes sense from a marketing perspective. Using fear to sell guns? It's a no-brainer.

...and specifically shoot Republican Congressmen...

Common BSM1. This is dishonest dialog.

You take one person who did a bad thing, then draw all his characteristics to criticize a whole. I mean, do you need me or anyone else to prove the fallacy of your statement?

What next? Are we going to blame all white males with gun ownership as possible terrorists?

This doesn't suggest that the left has no accountability for control of violence. It still does. Everyone should be condemning that act regardless of who committed.

First off, I don't condone violence of any kind. The rioting and damage of destruction were absolutely wrong, although I agreed with some of the protests in spirit, I would have wanted them all to be peaceful.

Now, that video is propaganda. From the music to the messaging, it's only purpose is to instill hate, fear and distrust against "the other side," by painting all of "them" to be violent and liars.

It does not correctly convey the absolute truth. Not all liberals are violent. I do my best to speak out against other liberals on subjects of violence.

Simply, two wrongs do not make a right. We have issues on both sides that needs to be corrected.

I didn't. But isn't this what you are doing?

What am I doing?

Saying that everyone should be condemning the act regardless of who committed?

So let me explicitly ask you then. Why did you bring up the topic of "specifically shoot Republican Congressman?"

What is your implication of Republican as opposed to simply Congressman? What is your implication of Congressman as opposed to simply person?

Let's hear it...

I'm with you on this one. Don't see how this add is in any way racist, or white supremist, or condoning any armed insurrection. Unless of course skwim is referring to the individuals who are breaking windows, robbing and looting and other mayhem.

What is wrong with it? It all rings true to me.

The ad uses the acts of a minority of people to demonise all liberals, leftists etc in America. It's calling for violence against protesters, calling them the enemies of freedom for protesting (ironically they're protesting in the name of freedom) and calling their position "this violence of lies" which can only be fought with "the clenched fist of truth". How is this not the sort of language which militarises an already poisonous atmosphere in the USA?

And there is no mention of White supremacy anywhere at all. Sounds like people are just reading into it what they want, which isn't really there.

It's at the very least implied - the NRA's target audience are privileged white conservative ammosexuals who would probably like nothing more than a fantasy of gunning down those evil communistic atheistic fascist Stalinist liberals who want to ruin America by making sure that minorities aren't shat on by white privilege which they (white people) would rather not even know about.

But then I'm an evil social conservative.

Would have been better if they used one of these ladies as their spokes person.
