I'm not sure how to explain the difference between something representing an entire religion and something representing a subsection of a religion to you.
Yes, the difference is there. It just isn't significant.
Various Islamic governments will be of different sects.
And yet, each is religious in nature.

I knew this would come up. However not all Jews are Israeli. Sort of the ISIS/Muslim argument.
One would never expect all members of a religion to be in a single country.
But Judaism is unusual in having a home country dedicated to the religion..
So you were right....no backpedalling!
