On Getting Older

Whippersnapper? Dad? :D

My mom has been telling me that she is worried about her sister in that regard. My aunt has been repeating things a lot, forgetting she said them, or forgetting who told her something and repeating it back to the person who just told her.

That's the thing I actually find the most frightening. What I fear the most is losing my mental faculties. Just the idea of Alzheimer's or dementia scares the crap out of me. I can handle the idea of my body physically aging and having issues...but my mind? No.
I hear ya. My father died from Alzheimers and my maternal grandmother did the same. We took care of both of them for two years each, so we're very aware of how tough it is, and I certainly wouldn't wish that on my family trying to take care of me. I told my wife that if she sees me developing those symptoms that she should throw me off the Mackinac Bridge. Trouble is that she wants to do that now.:(

Does she need any help?

Sigh.....someone slap me!

A lot of people, including therapists, have told me that I'm very intelligent and wise for my age. I'm actually worried that I might let out my immaturity when I'm older since I haven't let it out as much as my peers.

I do relish being immature in certain ways from time to time, though. Just letting nature take its course. :p

I'm 44. Everything is still going pretty good, but I'm tired more often. I am pretty aggressive with my fitness, but stuff hurts more now. After a hard workout, I feel it more than I used to.

And what's with the pee? At least once a night I'm up, and what's worse is, the damn thing seems to dribble forever at the end. Used to shut off like a faucet.

Just once? (!@#%$ kids. :D). Seriously though, man, get your prostate checked. Every guy over 40 should. Not saying it sounds like there's anything abnormal going on there, just that it's a good idea.

Says the guy who waited until he was 56 and then had to go through three.

(also, find a DR with skinny fingers if you can. Only sorta joking.).

And if the doc offers to buy dinner afterwards, you should find another doc.

I actually went to see the urologist today, and came out with prostate meds. Which was a relief because I thought I was going in for a biopsy.

Apparently they changed their minds sometime between visits and forgot to tell me. Not that I'm complaining.

Yeah, minds are changing on the efficacy of aggressive treatment for a slow growing cancer which might never kill us.

And the diagnostic procedures thereof ( the Mayo clinic and Stanford are both calling prostate biopsys out-dated at this point). The nice thing is that the first Doc I saw told me it "might not" be cancer (which sounded a lot to me like "but it probably is"), but the doctor I saw today said "well, it could be" (which sounded more like "but it's probably something else").

Sort of like , "Do you see the cup you just pee-d in half empty or half full?" :D

I had a cold last month that had me coughing my lungs up
popped a couple of ribs joints just right side of the breast bone.
now my chest 'pops' when I do cough.

it's all healing....but it takes soooooooo much longer than it used to

I got a hair cut and people no longer tell me I look like Jesus.

I used to go as Jesus for Halloween because the only costume I needed was a bed sheet and something to belt it around my waist with. :D

Then my beard turned mostly white. No biggy, next year I'm thinking of going as Zeus.
