On Getting Older

I've been athletic my whole life and there's a huge difference between 22 and 32... (I don't want any lip from you wrinkly old ********.) ;)

I have so many torn or damaged ligaments in my knees and shoulders that sitting on the floor is something I can only do a few times per day.
I have to get at least 4 hours of sleep or I'm a cranky, stiff mess in the morning when I wake up.
I have to work twice as hard just to keep my dad-belly at bay.
I haven't been able to run a 5k in like 6 months.
I slouch now...

But worst of all, I'm limited to 4 slices of pizza per sitting, and I can only handle vigorous sexual activity about 5 times a week.... What is my world coming to?!?

First things first.....
Get off'n me lawn, ya dang kids!

Now, what have you noticed as you age?
If you aren't that old, what do you expect as you age?

I'm 62 now.
On get'n older.....
- I've noticed that the world becomes more complex.
- I'm conscious of the importance of organizing my affairs so that my survivors won't be overwhelmed by complications, difficulties, & massive amounts of stuff.
- Staying fit is harder than it used to be.
- There's so much interesting stuff to do. I can barely recall what it was once like to feel boredom.

I'm over half a century...the knees are done, one hip is on its way out and the other wants to keep it company and a shoulder would really like to join them in arthritic bliss.......

I have noticed I really just want to be at home, I don't want to go ANYWHERE after work and I think staycations are by far superior to vacations.
But I have also noticed that fitness got more important and I have an easier time keeping at it than I use to, I have a little one still in elementary school and I have to be around a long time.
I have also noticed I still have power....I can still keep the one in college in line with a phone call
Also noticed that there are things that use to be REALLY important that no longer really matter.

I have started feeling pain too much on the actions of the people, whether family members or other.
In youth it was not the case. I think I am losing endurance on daily events. Life when I hear Grief or see and watch an unpleasant event I feel pain and sorrow. Otherwise life's good.

Hmm. Well lets see. Im not near as smart as I once was. Things that used to seem of utmost Importance are not so much a priority anymore. I tend to stay busy constantly. I workat least 6 days a week and sometimes night, not because I have to, I just like it. Im 48 and still in very good physical condition but am increasingly conscious that it won't last forever. Im much less selfish than I was in my youth. My kids are my life.

I hear ya. My father died from Alzheimers and my maternal grandmother did the same. We took care of both of them for two years each, so we're very aware of how tough it is, and I certainly wouldn't wish that on my family trying to take care of me. I told my wife that if she sees me developing those symptoms that she should throw me off the Mackinac Bridge. Trouble is that she wants to do that now.:(
I agree Metis. I told my kids before i have to goto a nursing home just spend the money on a plane ticket to Amsterdam where i can drink one of those euthenasia shakes. I know that may sound morbid but i dont want to be a burden to them or spend even one day in the hell of a nursing home. ):

I get nostalgic for my late teens and early 20s. So naive and fearless - as though there were no boundaries and and every rule was made to be broken.

The past two years is the first time I've started to feel like I'm genuinely getting uncomfortably older. I feel like myself and my peers are more serious than ever.
