Pedophilia is the scare word of the day, given time it will move on to something else.

So very true.

Another common scare these days is the specter of a much older man, say 40 or 50 years old, with an underage adolescent girl of 14 or 15. Everyone seems to know at least one or two examples of that, and when people think of statutory rape, they often enough seem to be thinking of that scenario. But -- as it happens -- the statistically much more likely case is a young man in his early 20s and an underage adolescent girl.

Quite right. I was able to get served in bars at about 16 and plenty of girls a couple of years younger than me looked older still (I looked about 19 before I grew my hair long and dyed it black )
