Never before has the world been more connected than it is today. We can openly discuss issues with others who are possibly miles away or even on the other side of the Globe. The world is connected, or nearly connected (some people still watch television or use Facebook and twitter.)

With this new era of information and a growing online community, how will we evolve? Political, economic and social norms are falling over the edge. Are we heading for a revolution, and if so, will it be peaceful or violent?

The boneheads will perish to their own beliefs or beat themselves senseless until they give up. I just give them space and let them have at it. The bulk of humanity isn't down with fanatical behavior at this point in time, so if they go crazy it just makes more room for the non-crazy people to fill up the room. I don't worry about it -- you gotta slog off the negative people before you make a gain, somehow.

Philosophical Disquisitions: Is Modern Technology Creating a Borg-like Society?

Already the human body is billions of cell working together from which consciousness emerges.

I can only image this process will continue as the billions of individual minds now on earth continue to merge. As we improve our interconnections I suspect at some point a super-consciousness will start to emerge. Not so much as a Borg drone though. People will begin to specialize to support the whole much like the individual cells of our body's cell have specialized.

What are people wanting or needing? What have they been denied?

This may actually be (or become) the big problem of this era imo. Unlimited freedom can lead to nihilism which in turn can lead to boredom and depression. But once you're used to it, it's hard to go back to a life full of rules and restrictions.

Things they've been denied:

A response to this virus
A proper response to racial issues and police brutality
An adequate response to economic hardships caused by COVID

Can you elaborate as to what those responses should be or should have been?

I rather believe it gives us an opportunity to reimagine the world--for better or worse.

If I respond, it will involve pointing the finger at Trump as well as Congress, and the resulting responses from others to my statements will probably just take the thread off topic and then we'd have yet another political thread.

But I'll try to answer one. Trillions of dollars were spent on economic stimulus but a lot went to special interest groups of the politicians and big business, when the economic strategy of funding big business with the hopes it will help the little guy is in my opinion a failed economic strategy.

What I'm saying is it's better to give the little guy an infusion of cash with the hopes they spend it on certain businesses instead. It costs much less and doesn't lead to paying for the expensive dinner and wine of CEOs and for them to put the money into buying their own stocks and other personal interests.

people have been re-inventing their wheel of suffering for so long that we can now no longer recall how long it has been. [and we like to call it evolution:)]

I agree that consideration should go to those looking at bankruptcy, but consideration for those large companies such as the airlines? Can we afford to allow those industries to sink?

That I'd have to do a bit more research on. I'm skeptical that the airlines will use all of that money wisely at all, but other things in the economic stimulus bill include funding a place where Nancy Pelosi does her speeches and a lot of other things, and fraudulent payments to people filing false claims of small business to get loans, then buy fancy cars, etc through a program that didn't try to check up on small businesses much before the payouts.

Well, I often consider what I need: food, shelter, clothing, transportation, freedom...and love, of course. It is nice to have an occupation that you enjoy, too.
