One world religion?

If it is "becoming PC" then who is causing it to "become PC"? Surely if there is a motivation to make it "PC" then this indicates a desire to end division and hatred?

no its not ,in my country there is a tendency to not upset religious people, to try not to offend them ,and at the moment the trend is never do anything to upset the muslims .its a taboo almost

so as we are clearly not worshiping the same god its a falsehood to say we are ,how can that be a good thing.

i don't think we will ever have one, unified religion. advances in technology and science and discoveries of the world about us influence and change culture. culture is also changed by advances in literature, art, quality of education, and religion.

on the other hand, these things are all also influenced by culture, and by each other.

so, simply, why will we never have one unified religion? because of the breadth of technology, science, art, literature, philosophy and theology.

or rather, for as long as people are free to choose, and the breadth of these things is available, we will never have one unified religion.

That would just lead to interplanetary jihads and interstellar crusades.

I don't see that working for several reasons.

Firstly, most religions are content to leave eachother alone.

Secondly, waging any sort of interstellar war costs an extremely large amount - you have to fly every single kilo of weapons and equipment that you need there, which currently costs in the range of tens of thousands of dollars per kilo. You would need to fly in food, and water, and air, and all sorts of things to wage war first. Flying thousands of me, along with extremely high-power weaponery would be a daunting task for even the most dedicated of religious fanatics.

Probably the most compelling reason, though, is that it would be impossible if both groups are anywhere near the same technology level.

Intriguing me of late, I want to see what you think. Is there any possibility of a unified one world religion? What would it look like? Feel like? Be like? What scriptures/rituals/prayers/etc. would it use?

I think it's a good idea if it's implemented correctly, that is, not used as a subversive political tool. But, it'll probably never happen until reactionary groups/fundamentalism die(s) out. Again, what do you think?

Note: no conspiracies, please. Let's at least try to be somewhat . . . linear, to say the least.

Not only is it possible, but one day in the future it will happen.

There is only one religion-the religion of TRUTH. Who's truth, do I hear you say, why

Gods truth of course. As man continue's to evolve, he will finally come into the truth

of his relationship to God. The Kingdom of God is within every man/woman/child and

eventually, everyman/woman will bring forth that truth. Man was created and born to

be free, and nothing can stop consciousness from bringing about that freedom.

Everything Christ taught was to lead us to Christ consciousness, otherwise known as Transcendental consciousness. Mystical Christianity confirms what the Hindu's have
always known.

May God have mercy on us all.

There is only ONE "religion" that will eventually include everyone in the world. Atheism.

It already does. I am atheistic relative to the god "Lucifer". Muslims are atheistic relative to the Son of God. Unless there is somebody who believes in all gods, everyone is an atheist toward at least one god.

Greetings! :)

To have one all encompassing religion, one would have to prove other religions are false

Not so!

The Baha'i Faith recognizes and respects ALL the great religions as legitimate and of God, and in no way attempts to "disprove" them!

I quote from the Baha'i scriptures:

"There can be no doubt whatever that the peoples of the world, of whatever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God. The difference between the ordinances under which they abide should be attributed to the varying requirements and exigencies of the age in which they were revealed. All of them, except a few which are the outcome of human perversity, were ordained of God, and are a reflection of His Will and Purpose. Arise and, armed with the power of faith, shatter to pieces the gods of your vain imaginings, the sowers of dissension amongst you. Cleave unto that which draweth you together and uniteth you."

-- (The Proclamation of Baha'u'llah, page 114)

If there ever is a second coming, this will solve it all.

For the record, we believe it already happened a century and a half ago when the Baha'i Faith was founded!

Best, :)

... as we are clearly not worshiping the same god, it's a falsehood to say we are.....

Some of us disagree strongly with your premise!

We Baha'is definitely believe that ALL the great religions were revealed by and therefore all worship this same One God!

And to us, this is "clear." :)

Indeed, these two things (along with the unity of humanity) are our three most central tenets!

Excellent topic! What if a leader was to appear who had the abilities to perform miracles and even bring folks back from the dead? A real time in your face God on earth! A person who could show us where the religious texts where misinterpreted and how different religions drifted apart.

How would Atheists disavow such a proof positive display? It is possible for a one world religion and is prophetized as well.

Even were said being to come about, no one would agree what deity was being represented by this person, how to worship it, and so forth.

I know that you accept Jesus done that, and he is a case in point, is he not? Muslims and Christians have incorporated him into their beliefs, and there are hundreds of different variants for each faith.

The answer is very simple, really!

The spiritual teachings of all the great religions are consistent and unchanging (though sometimes expressed in different wordings). These are things like "there is a God," "you're here for a purpose," "don't murder," etc..

The social teachings, in contrast, are INTENTIONALLY temporary and subject to change in each Age when God sends a new Divine Messenger (but only by God and that Messenger, never by us)! Such teachings address various things, including prayer, marriage and divorce, fasting, administration, etc.. God changes these to match humanity's gradual growth and increasing capabilities and understanding. Thus, not only does creation evolve, but religion does, too!

Best regards, :)

The Bible is quite clear what the final One World Religion will look like. First it will be headed up by someone claiming to be God, as he sits on God's throne in the New Temple in Jerusalem. Second, the first three and one-half years of his reign will be peaceful, as he has offered the world a solution to its burgeoning emptiness, probably brought on as postmodern philosophy finally runs its course and total chaos has broken out. Third, the latter three and one-half years will be characterized by calamities that the world has never seen before. People will die by the billions as one environmental catastrophe after another are instigated by God Almighty as he reigns judgment down upon a wicked and idolatrous world. Fourth, the One-World Religious leader will meet his fate during this period of calamity at the hands of the One-World Government, as that ruler has the religious ruler put to death. Fifth, death, famine, and pestilence will mark the latter days, and because of all the destruction taking place, with the rich and powerful seeking to find a place to hide from it all, with others trying to kill themselves, but find that they cannot. Sixth, demonic activity will be at an all-time high, as God allows those characters to escape the pit of hell to torment men because of their rebellious and obstinate ways. Seventh, the armies of the earth will gather in the Valley of Megiddo to wage war with God (the Battle of Armageddon).

The bottom line, there is going to be a One-World Religion and One-World Government, the shadows of which we see coming towards us daily. That said, though, those one-world systems will not succeed, nor can they, simply because of two things: (1) the sin nature of man, and (2) the demonic influence at work. Therefore, instead of wishing or hoping for a one-world system, one should simply be preparing themselves to meet their Maker. The Lord Jesus is coming to reign and to judge. Are you ready?

To me... having a representative world parliament based on human rights is desparately needed today and this doesn't come from Satan... or the devil... What comes from the devil is continued division and strife as well as the lower nature of man that exploits others' weaknesses.

What if there is already a universal religion that we already belong to and perhaps have belonged to forever up to today and yet will be tomorrow The religion of Spirit?
