Democracy is indeed a twin edged sword. To be successful It must contain the pernicious extremes of Nationalism and liberty.

Those who are voted in must be high in virtues and morals, but most of all be trustworthy and truthful.

Judging by the deficit left by many Conservatives, I should say they are promising to spend the money of those not yet old enough to vote, but will be saddled with paying that debt.

The weakness of the UN to ensure world peace is now apparent, it is not founded on the principles that will ensure the peace of humanity.

In light of this OP, the continued rejection of the Councils of "The Pen of the Most high", will continue to bring great destruction and suffering, it will extend globally as the economic bubble will burst.

The Nations that have not supported sanctions against Russia in the UN are just as culpable as the invasion forces.
