Playstation 4 sneaks in spying and monitoring 4 days prior to launch through mandatory update.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Noticed it when I was involuntarily signed out of my account last week forcing the new terms and services.

This has gone beyond reasonable monitoring and survalience imo.

They are really no better than microsoft box 1 as far as im concerned.

Seems others noticed the sneaky antics as well. I canceled my plans for purchase of consoles now. Maybe down the road someday. Not now as this crap stands.

PC. .im baaccckkk!!!!

I don't know what all occurs on gaming networks such as this but if they want to try to prevent and punish activities such as but not limited to, cheating, bullying, child exploitation, accessing inappropriate content, copyright infringement, etc. shouldn't they have a means to control content and prosecute violators?

Not when it harms everybody else.

...Jim Sterling's going to have quite the field day with this...

How does all those things NOT harm everybody else?

Seriously, Starcraft became utterly unplayable once everyone started hacking. Made me want to smash their computers with a hammer because the only way to compete was to hack as well, and I refused to do it.

LoL - This guy is a hardcore gamer for real. I use to drop the f-bomb a few times in every sentence I used when I was 13 until i up'd my vocab, but I'm glad to see some people are still capable of making perfectly good use of it. :D

You clearly don't watch some of the stuff I watch. ;)

What is wrong with the Xbox One? Does it have some of the same problems as PlayStation 4? I was looking at some of the games for it the other day and they look awesome.

It's perfectly reasonable to monitor the chatter that goes on in multiplayer matches, much like we do here on RF, especially considering all the bullying and abuse that goes on there. But monitoring ALL online activities is just asking for trouble.

Plus the whole "licensed software" is just a bunch of crock. You can't copyright 2+2.

It's watching you. Always watching.

These aren't game consoles anymore. They're bad PCs. I've certainly not been attracted to any of the games currently announced; the only one I even remember from the Xbone is a new Killer Instinct. Fine for KI fans, but I never really cared for the games (I don't like built-in combos).

The only Xbox One game I seen was TitanFall. I think the graphics on the next gen stuff look good, but I would like to know how they are compared to PC games.

Bah. High graphical fidelity has NEVER made or broken a console. Ever. Or technical specs, for that matter. Every generation, the console with the highest technical specs all but fails.

I don't trust trailers anymore. They're only representative of the final product about 5% of the time, in my experience.

Though perhaps I'm just jaded by betrayal. Once, a game was coming out that was promised to be the best thing out there. Fast-paced action, amazing-looking graphics and visuals, fantastic music, and an epic story spanning the journeys of three characters. It was going to be the most AWESOME thing EVER!!!!

...that game was Sonic '06.

I agree. I have to admit, I am somewhat of a graphics freak / fanatic. But I like Indie (16-bit style) games more than some of the higher quality graphic games.
