It's on video:

From the video's description (has spoilers, watch the video first if it bothers you):
"Police got a frantic phone call about a man pledging his allegiance to ISIS, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding. It happened Wednesday evening at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Colorado Avenue in Avon. A desk clerk called her sister to say there was man in the lobby in what she called “in full head dress with multiple disposable phones pledging his allegiance to ISIS." The clerk's father also called police. "She's in the back. I have the text. She says she's terrified," the clerk's dad told dispatchers."

My lazy thought (has spoilers too):
I think the women, her sister and father just got scared. When people get scared, things happen. The police did their job well. I feel bad for the man and I can't speak for him, but if it were me, I would understand and respect their reflex. The poor guy couldn't take it and had a panic attack. Ah, the man could have used one of those US tourist dress starter packs.

If you saw someone dressed in what could be considered a "uniform" of sorts with multiple disposable phones (whom you believe was) publically declaring their allegience to an organization that has a reputation for bloodthirsty deliberate attacks against civilians - often via suicide bombers - what would you do?

In all honesty though, I thought the police were going to shoot him, good on them for not doing so.

I agree with your analysis.

I do stuff
"Police spoke to the clerk and found out that the man did not, in fact, make any statements related to ISIS. Officers said at that time it was clear there was a miscommunication."

I don't understand where the "miscommunication" comes from. Was the guy on his cell phone ordering a few Italian Ices on a hot summer day?

Cops are probably the stupidest people in society who hold a lot of power. I really dislike them.

I would report them, of course. But I don't get your point... what kind of uniform is the man wearing and did he publicly declare allegiance to an organization that has a reputation for bloodthirsty deliberate attacks against civilians - often via suicide bombers? Also, many people work in crazy business fields and hold multiple disposable phones. I don't see a problem with that!

And why would the police shoot him anyway, with the given case scenario of the report and the video?

When this guy goes back home, his friends and family are probably going to ask him, "How was your trip to the United States? Did you like it? What are Americans like?". I would love to hear that conversation.

What "uniform"? He's dressed like a conservative Saudi man.

You clearly underestimate American police. I would have fully expected them each to empty their magazine, reload, and repeat, and then beat the hell out of him before they handcuffed his lifeless body. Seriously, this guy is lucky to be alive.

Oh, God :fearful:

Not in Scandinavian countries, here they require a bachelor's degree level qualification. :)

The cops likely did as they were trained to do, but I don't think their response was appropriate.....
The guy was causing no trouble when they saw him.
They shouted much which was unintelligible.
They threw his cel phone into a bush.
They needlessly distressed him (knee on the neck, guns, shouting, cuffing) him to the point it became a medical issue.

More thougths....
It's always good to avoid cops.
Violence is the default approach for many.
While he has a right to dress as he does, it's a bad idea to do so in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio....except on Halloween.
Old Japanese saying....
A nail which sticks up, gets hammered down.

I hope the cops address the issue of the gal who made the false police report.
Even if in error, she needs a stern talking to.
