Pornography poll

Should pornography be bannes? If so, is it because or partially because it exploits women?

Sorry I meant coercion I'm retarded

Oh coercion, I was confused too. They could always unionize but as with any other job, sometimes you do things you don't like. When I worked on commercial equipment as a diesel mechanic I did all kinds of horrible repairs in some pretty bad conditions, some jobs are better than others but what can you do, I was good at what I did and I needed the money so sucked it up and did it. And I probably worked longer than any porn actress and, for sure, it was more physical and paid far less.

I see that you've been exploited as well. I guess we all need to live.

Yeah I think I might have some form of dyslexia because I often get words mixed up, or I just don't concentrate probably, I don't know.

Except you weren't being raped, so that is the issue...

Last time I checked we were talking about coerced adults not consenting adults.

Rape is a separate issue. I think there is a difference between coercion and rape, just as I think there is a difference between being coerced into doing work you don't want to do and slave labor.

Besides, bringing rape into the mix is a moot point. Rape is always wrong in any situation, all applicable rape laws should apply to porn as with any other occupation. If porn has higher instances of rape than normal, it is something that can be fixed by basic oversight and regulation that any job or film production would be required to follow. The problems within porn are not inherent to porn, they are caused by demonizing porn. When something is made immoral or criminal, it tends to be controlled by immoral criminals. These aren't problems with porn, these are problems with society.

Well some pornographers want the women to choke on the penis so they can throw up, or just choke on the penis because they want to sell violent sex in general.

Well, the women do say what they are willing and unwilling to do beforehand. You provided the link yourself.

So, if they are willing to do that for money, then they are making their choice.

A lot of people work in jobs they dislike to be able to pay the bills.

This is true that they state what they are willing to do. But I'm talking about cases when they are coerced to do something they don't want to do. For example like what happened to Lara Roxx. She was coerced to do an anal scene even though she never agreed to anal before hand and she got HIV. She said she was told if she didn't do the scene they would not pay her. She paid for her flight to do that porn scene and didn't have money to get back home.

I am talking about just basic standards. I don't even know that I would mandate the use of condoms if they can provide reliable, medical proof they are free of STDs. I don't see why we can't extend the duties of health inspectors to inspect porn shoots. It's all about money, once the fines start coming in, they will comply.

As far as DP goes, it's not my thing, I don't like watching it and I would never do it, but if consenting adults want to do it for whatever reason, go for it.

If you are regularly banging multiple strangers without protection, how could you ever prove you are STD free? In one of the links I provided, there was an instance of a man who was regularly tested for HIV infecting three women between tests. How can that be avoided, if not by mandating condom use?

Also I believe that someone should always have the right to say no and change their mind, inside and outside of the industry, the environment should be in a way where the performancer feel comfortable saying no and are not pressured into anything.

So back to My question how can we regulate the industry to ensure this?

I'd say it's practical. Consider professions such as real estate agents & appraisers. License law prevents a lot of mischief without
harming the business too much (some requirements are dysfunctional). Movie making might benefit from this approach.

Yes, I'm proposing an increase in regulation, but I still favor an overall decrease.

Condoms would be a good start. Maybe an independent complaints commission to handle specific contractual disputes, workplace safety inspections. A nurse on set would not be a bad idea, with the power to put a stop to the filming at the first sign of bleeding or any other injury.

The films I worked on always had a first aid tent on location. I don't see why porn, which is so much more dangerous than cowboy movies, should not be doing this too.

I'm well confused by the last sentence...

I have a long history on RF of combating malignant government regulation. Some posters might have a
heart attack at the sudden shock of my actually proposing new regulation. So I've alleviated their stress
by pointing out that I'd still cut a lot of needless regulation. Yes, I care that much about our family here..
...& about a secure future for porn.

Speaking of contracts! I think the performer should always we able to break it if they are no longer comfortable doing something.
