Oh I see; he's saying gays should be ashamed the other 11 months of the year. (just kidding).

Please give me the source for President Obama's declaration.
From the White House's Official Web Site:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2009 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. I call upon the people of the United States to turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.

I don't know if someone made that document up or if it is authentic. But I do know that the most hostile people in the world would not favor this declaration, and would see it as an insult to their God and a cowardly act on the part of the President. This may be the most dangerous act he has done. This issue is extremely hostile on both sides. Stupid political agendas cause such damage.

Post #8 of this thread has a link to the Official White House Website.
So it is authentic.

And how pray tell do you "know" this?

No more so than stupid religious agendas.

That's cool. It's a relief to see a politician - ANY politician - doing something other than dodging the issue for fear of alienating either the powerful "civil rights" demographic or the equally powerful "religious right" demographic. On the other hand, it smacks a bit of being a thrown bone to make up for the fact that he doesn't actually support full equality - i.e. marriage - and prefers "civil unions", which are very often not at all the same thing.

I have met many people who are from the Muslim World. Some of them were quite educated and respected. I never witnessed them mistreat anyone. They were very kind and understanding with my mother. Professors, Doctors, Scientists etc. Several years ago, some of these people were being wrongly mistreated because of their stand against homosexuality. Of course, those who were attempting to ruin the Muslims did not use this as their actual reason for the false allegations which they had conjured up against them. Eventually these good Muslim men were run out of our area. However, the various people who went up against them started having all type of terrible and bizarre tragedies happen to them. Justice is different to different people. Some people call the police or the army. Other people use a far more hidden way to solve their problems with others. And these people do not respect any cowardly manifestation in a leader. They do greatly respect those who stand up for what they themselves believe in. And they will test you to see if you are what you pretend to be.

From what I have learned Political and Religious Agendas are pretty much the same.

Am I the only one completely missing the point in the above?

But they still cannot get married in most places. :( The laws are very contradictory to this new declaration. If we aren't going to discriminate against them, why can't they get married? Or maybe they can only get married in June... and then they won't be married anymore until the next June.

This does make a nice change from the previous policies of the administration before Obama.

So your argument is to cave in so as not to get caught in the backlash?

I'm happy with this, but I'm also wondering if it's a sop to his LGBT supporters who aren't thrilled with his wishy-washiness on the gay marriage issue.
