President Obama declares this June Gay and Lesbian Pride Month

Why do you have to obey the Bible according to someone else's interpretation of it to be a Christian?

Also, I'm glad he's not committed to the Bible when it comes to matters of government, considering he's supposed to keep the two things separate.

President Obama doesn't seem so committed to The Bible,it's clear
YouTube - Obama and the Bible, Is He a Christian?
Yet according to him he is a christian, just like all other christians who are not going with The Bible in many ways.

Hi, Riverfox. To be a Christian, for most Christians, is to commit to and follow the teachings of Christ, not to "go with the Bible". The Bible is a history of his people and contains a few different versions of the story of his life. A follower of Christ is mainly concerned with the words and deeds of Christ. That makes up a relatively teensy portion of the bible. In fact, you could fit it into a pamphlet. And you could fit the two teachings that were most important to Christ onto a business card: Love your god with all your heart, and love your neighbour as you love yourself.

You seem to be under the mistaken that the Bible-obsessed Christians are the "real" Christians. That's just not the case. Those Christians are widely believed to be dangerous and insane, even by other Christians.

Mainstream Christians have a direct personal relationship with Christ.
And that's what christians go with, well i didn't know, i just see how most christians consider the bible to be the word and God and the final authority of faith and practice. This doesn't include obama who doesn't consider this, but yet a christian according to himself.

This christian man speaking, disagrees with all those who claim that the bible and it's teachings and faiths are not be practiced. You know what? Even this man doesn't believe in any of the Bible scientific errors, now i have a reason why this man speaking is not a christian, but i don't know what does he have to say about that.

Not really the case since Jesus is the Word, the Word is the bible, I do base my believe in the bible, that is according to Jesus,we come to believe by the Word.Jesus used the Word when He was tempted by satan,I believe the Word to be alive and active,it is profitable for teaching for correction and training in righteousness, however you are correct Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself sums up all the laws.

It would be reassuring to know that I'm not the only non-believer on this site that considers homosexuality to be a psychological abnormality, and should be treated as such.

What did Jesus say about homosexuality?

Even if homosexuality is a psychological abnormality (which it very well could be depending on how you define "normal"), that has no bearing on it's morality. How do you suppose we treat homosexuality?

In the same way that other psychoses such as schizophrenia are treated. The immorality for me is not the condition itself, but the way in which all public dissention is stifled by the gay lobby and same sex instruction is forced on 5 year-olds in UK schools. When parents object, they are branded 'homophobic fascists' by the Liberal Left.

Somehow I don't think antipsychotic medications will correct homosexuality. Any gay RF members want to try some of my seroquel? I could probably manage a day or two without.

Should we correct homosexuality in animals too? Also, shall we go ahead and medicate southpaws too?

You know, ever since I got on my schizophrenia meds, I think I might have become more attracted to members of the same sex.
