Am I the only one completely missing the point in the above?
I think the point was "don't confront religious homophobes with your personal views on civil rights, because they will kill you - if they're Muslims".

Call me cynical but I think you're spot on J Bryson.I'm happy with this, but I'm also wondering if it's a sop to his LGBT supporters who aren't thrilled with his wishy-washiness on the gay marriage issue.
I don't know how you can fail to know that when the link to the White House website was already posted.I don't know if someone made that document up or if it is authentic.
It's high time Evangelical Christians and Catholic bishops got over themselves. But I do know that the most hostile people in the world would not favor this declaration, and would see it as an insult to their God and a cowardly act on the part of the President.

The White House - Press Office - Presidential Proclamation - LGBT Pride MonthPlease give me the source for President Obama's declaration.
Yes, freeing the slaves was not popular either, but it was the right thing to do too.I don't know if someone made that document up or if it is authentic. But I do know that the most hostile people in the world would not favor this declaration, and would see it as an insult to their God and a cowardly act on the part of the President. This may be the most dangerous act he has done. This issue is extremely hostile on both sides. Stupid political agendas cause such damage.
The "M" word is noticeably absent from the proclamation.I'm happy with this, but I'm also wondering if it's a sop to his LGBT supporters who aren't thrilled with his wishy-washiness on the gay marriage issue.

Exactly. I'm not part of the community, but from the outside it looks like "Well, we're not going to give you all of your rights, but you're still very nice people."
Yeah, it's a nice gesture, except that it's kind of a consolation for not having equal rights.
Stupid political agendas cause such damage.
This stupid political agenda, is quite a clever move by Obama.Like the civil rights movement of the 60s? Or women's suffrage of the early 20th century? Is equality and liberty really a "stupid political agenda"?
So far, this story has gotten more views than any other single story I've published on Examiner. We have a lively discussion going on in the comments, with some strong views. You are all invited to weigh in.
That's exactly how I take it. This is where if I were homosexual I would take this as a slap in the face, as its not a month free of discrimination that is being asked of here, it's EQUAL rights so to me its just another way of avoiding the real issue at hand.
Which Examiner?
I'm familiar with the Atlanta Examiner but I guess that's not the one you are speaking of.
I'm the Denver Gay Parenting Examiner. Click it! Click it! Click it constantly. Seriously, though, I have put a lot of interesting stuff on there, if I do say so myself. Plus you can see a picture and interview of my oldest spawn.
