Prices At The Pump Are For The Future Liberal World Order

Viker

It's nice to know that the ones benefitting the most from higher gas prices, the people making profits, are liberals. Maybe they'll use all those profits to ensure things like the right to privacy, reproductive rights and other liberal causes become institutional.

well, I guess other places in the world now want a piece of the energy pie. I don't know about the term 'liberal world order.' I don't waste time thinking about these 'world order' ideas. I walked to work most of the time before, and I will continue to now. I saw a big football sized hunk of gravel walking up to menards yesterday. I hate driving on our crappy and dangerous roads. Almost 50k died on them last year.

It Aint Necessarily So

I am in favor of whatever diminishes fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emission, including high gas prices, electric cars, solar panels, the recent contraction of the airline industry and higher air fares, work from home, staycations, etc..

And, I prefer a liberal vision for the world, one where global warming is considered science and an imminent threat. The conservatives vision has been to increase greenhouse gas emissions beginning with Reagan removing the panels from the White House to the recent Supreme Court ruling against the EPA.

Seems that White House economic adviser Brian Deese suggested the pain at the pump was a price American had to pay for the "future of the liberal world order," in a CNN interview on Thursday.

High gas prices worth it for 'future of liberal world order,’ White House economics adviser tells CNN

and for those that can't handle the truth
Biden adviser's 'liberal world order' remarks spark derision
Are you certain that he meant "liberal" in the way that you seem to be taking it (i.e. partisan political Liberal), or did he, perhaps mean it the way Biden himself used the term "new world order" in reference to the free (i.e. liberal as in liberated) world's opposition to the dictatorships of Russia, China and the like?

It may be that you don't like liberty and prefer strongman dictatorship, but I haven't heard you express anything like that before.

I think you might want to cut some partisan slagging here. just until you're sure what he meant.

I'd like fuel prices to be ten dollars per gallon as well as significant tax credits for electric vehicle purchasers in order to persuade motorists to drive an electric vehicle.

Yes, it does often seem that conservatives don't see the despoliation of the world as particularly interesting. Perhaps they have a secret plan to move all conservatives to a new planet somewhere. Shall we whip up a conspiracy theory to that effect?

Yeah yesterday I saw some guys on electric bicycles. I really maybe should have got one of those instead of a dumb car. I got a new car that's just under two years old, and I'm kind of thinking of just signing it over to my ma, and then getting an electric bike. I don't know. I just don't want to deal with a car

So you expect everyone to go out a purchase a electic vehicle?
Just where are they going to get the money to do so?
You do know that only about 30% of taxpayes itimize, so your idea of a tax credit sucks big time.

Anyone who by now still fails to understand why the price of oil is high must be an imbecile. We've gone over it several times on this forum in the last few months and it has been in all the papers for ages.

Or we get off the dinojuice altogether and don't have to worry about oil prices and how they are prone to global influence outside our control.

How about we become energy independent by using all means of generating power.
EV can not answer the issue at this time.

. I suppose then if motorists can not afford.to replace their internal combustion engines with electric motors, they should consider riding on bikes, buses or trains. As many horizontally challenged motorists I have seen lately,, I figure walks might very well ba a healthy remedy for many short distance journeys.

Do you live in America?

That would probably be about as bad as not being prepared when we run out of oil.

Even if it backrupts the economy? That's illogical.
