And many falsley believe that Biden is not partial to blame. The OP foolishly seems to think that Biden has something to do with gas prices. That is as foolish as thinking the private gas station owners have a hand in it.
You need to take an economics class. Oil is priced internationally, not nationally. Oil prices went up for several reasons, none of them under Biden's control. First, the world demand went up as the pandemic wound down. Second OPEC did not raise production to meet that demand. Third, Russia started a war that took their supplies off of the market. And many falsley believe that Biden is not partial to blame.
Why should the oil and gas industry invest money in something that is going away as soon as Biden and the rest of you anti- fossile fuel thinks it shold.
Why did fuel prices start going up upon Bident coming into office? Riddle me that
True, but one more point in the favor of electric cars is their efficiency. They are far more effective at transferring energy into motion. When we talk about electric cars and clean energy, we have to remember that the electricity has to be generated somehow. It's no good having an electric car and using electricity generated by coal! Of course, the electric solution does put all the carbon generation in one place so it can be dealt with more easily than having millions of gasoline powered cars emitting fumes. We can already chose cleaner forms of generation, like natural gas, while we work on the other solutions. We also have to work on making electric cars as convenient to use as the gas powered models.
We are not yet close to having all the electricity we need generated from "clean" sources, but we can get there, albeit with some discomfort on the way. At least we will have a planet that will support us.
No, they don't seem to care about the future of life on earth.
Agreed. Americans will be forced to modify their lives, and for that I'm grateful. Get rid of those lawns, buy fewer processed goods packaged in plastic, and yes, more bikes and fewer cars. We've got friends in California now getting ready to put artificial turf lawn down in place of their grass, because California is running out of water. I saw on the news yesterday where American credit card debt is on the rise, meaning that people will be doing more downsizing as they approach their credit limits and can no longer finance their present standard of living. But as I said, I see a net benefit coming from that.
Yes, even if it bankrupts the economy. Climate change is the number one problem today, on the level of global nuclear war, but is actually here now and already doing considerable damage, with much more to come.
But how is that going to happen? If gas prices make people pay more for everything, they will simply need to downsize their consumption to equal what their dollars (or ruples or euros) can purchase. I see the American standard of living falling, and not just for a few months or years. But this will be good for everybody.
It doesn't need to be in place now. Clean energy infrastructure will rise to meet the demand for affordable power as the need arises. They're already talking about electric airplanes.
Even if it backrupts the economy? That's illogical.
He said the secret part out loud... either that or they aren't even trying to conceal thier corruption anymore.
What's illogical is continuing our dependency on oil. It's a limited resource, it pollutes heavily, it poses international concerns and issues, and it's a limited resource. If we do nothing it will be far worse than a few hiccups on getting off it.Even if it backrupts the economy? That's illogical.
Don't interrupt intentional polarization with facts (it confuses those who would rather over simplify to make themselves feel better).Newsflash, high fuel prices are a world problem, left or right, it doesn't matter
I work in rural country. There are no busses. I live without a garage to install a charging station. EVs are not a solution for much of America and the world. Not until they make portable chargers and at a reasonably affordable rate.. I suppose then if motorists can not afford.to replace their internal combustion engines with electric motors, they should consider riding on bikes, buses or trains. As many horizontally challenged motorists I have seen lately,, I figure walks might very well ba a healthy remedy for many short distance journeys.
A charging station is not needed for an EV. You can do it off of household current. It will simply take longer. Plug your car in when you get back from a trip and it will be ready. Unless you drive hundreds of miles a day an EV is an easy switch.I work in rural country. There are no busses. I live without a garage to install a charging station. Don't have a house. Millions of people live in apartments and condos and townhouses without external plugs.A charging station is not needed for an EV. You can do it off of household current. In that case they may have to rely on public transit.Don't have a house. Millions of people live in apartments and condos and townhouses without external plugs.
We were screwed once we put just about put our entire infrastructure into the internet. If oil is the only thing keeping our country afloat economically. Boy have we screwed the pooch.
I don't know how you haven't noticed, but oil is at the heart of every major economy in the world. If oil is the only thing keeping our country afloat economically. Boy have we screwed the pooch.
Yes, I do wish that so many other people that try to do good for the environment were not so anti-nuclear power.I'm all for a transition to EVs, at least for daily commuters/around town. I don't think it's ready for cross-country trips excepting some specific routes, so my wanderlust style of vacationing is out the window.
But before we do that, we really need to up our nuclear game. We need to quintuple or so the amount of reactors/facilities in the US so that we cover as much of our industrial/residential power consumption as possible, I think we could essentially end coal. It's the only alternative to fossil fuels that I've seen that has a feasible argument for effective replacement.
Economies change. In this case we are being forced to by nature.I don't know how you haven't noticed, but oil is at the heart of every major economy in the world.
