Russia and Ukraine came close to an agreement in 2022, but that was nixed by Boris Johnson since the West was not yet ready to end the war.

Like what 52% of the people of Ukraine want. Allow Russia to keep the 1/5th of Ukraine they currently hold in exchange for an end to the war.

Also, hopefully letting people who want to be part of Russia and those who don't immigrate appropriately.

Well that seems reasonable.
Certainly, if the people living in Crimea and Russian occupied lands really do want to be in Russia then fair enough. Obviously there is a difficulty in as much as any voting under Putin is massively dodgy.

And yes, maybe there could be a migration as you describe, a bit like that of the Indian/pakistani partition in the late 40s or early 50s.

That is just fake. Putin did not attend those meetings. It was nowhere close to agreement. Its a story that the far left enjoys repeating. Putin has never wanted anything but unconditional surrender. As he keeps losing thousands of men every month, he may eventually come to agree to something reasonable. So it is better for Ukraine to hang on and continue causing damage to Russian army and economy. They may need some help from Poland (just like NK is helping Russia), but Russia can be defeated militarily.
