proof of god's inexistence?

RF Addict
i already said numerous times that i dont care wether a god actually exists, what i care about is wether or not a personal god exists.

Even if you prove the entire Bible incorrect, it does not mean that, say, the Flying Spaghetti Monster does not exist.

Suppose that I were to make the claim that those who vote for Barack Obama will gain the ability to fly like superman.

Now consider that we have established the fact that many people did vote for Obama, and also that none of them have gained the ability to fly like superman. Would this prove that Barack Obama does not exist?.

what a bad example. we know that barack obama exists. heck, we freaking voted for the guy to physically take the office of president of the united states, so he better exist. otherwise we are delusional idiots voting for imaginary friends. LOL. so to ask wether barack's inability to follow through on a ridiculous and impossible promise means that he does not actually physically exist is incoherent to say the least.

This is exactly the kind of logic you are trying to use here. .

sorry, but if i were really that stupid, id shoot myself.

You have not proven that “God” does not exist, you have not even proven that a personal “God” does not exist. All you have shown is that this one Biblical statement does not seem to be true. (Just like it is not true that those who vote for Obama will gain the ability of flight)..

once again, im out to prove that the personal abrahamic god as described in the bible and koran does not exist.,a loving, righteous and neverchanging, omniscient, omnipotent, omni-present. with the capability and will of sending humans to hell/heaven based on their beliefs and actions god. as far as the existence of any other god is concerned, i dont care, as i wont be affected.

now having established that. if this certain god of the bible. who never backs out of and always upholds his word/promises, just as he did all throughout the bible, makes one final promise, and that promise is not kept even 2000 plus years later, then that certain god, is either inexistent as described by the bible, as an upstanding god always keeping and never breaking his promises, or a liar. in either of which cases making the god of the bible/koran, inexistent. just like the triple headed purple turtle hiding down by the creek under rock number 3, as described in 6 year old jimmy's diary is inexistent when it turns out that the turtle is not purple and only has one head YES, A TURTLE STILL EXISTS. BUT THE TURTLE DESCRIBED IN JIMMY'S DIARY DOESNT EXIST. JUST LIKE THE GOD AS DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE DOESNT EXIST FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED REASONS.

Yes, that is exactly right, and exactly my point. To suggest that you have proven that “God” does not exist based on the lack of follow through on a specific biblical claim is an incoherent argument.

(yes I realize my Obama example is absurd, but that is the point. I am hoping that in seeing the absurdity of my example you will be able to see the absurdity of your argument)

this is the last time im repeating this.....not god, the biblical god, based on the bible. if the bible definition of god is false, the biblical abrahamic god does not exist. any other god may still exist, but it wont matter because we wont be affected by heaven/hell and other biblical definitions.

Let's see now ...
if the bible definition of god is false
then
god as defined by the bible is false
... and this is what you're reduced to after five pages of "proof of god's inexistence!" I can't wait till your next foray into the intricacies of deductive reasoning. :)

You know, truthfully, I can't really say that I've seen anything in particular that lends to my belief that there's something beyond this life. I guess I have a streak of faith in me, here or there. The only thing I can really say is that there's just so much we can't know, so much beyond our world, it makes a kind of sense in my mind that there would be something. Or maybe I've just seen the prevalence of the natural world, the cycles that it goes through each season, sleeping and returning to vibrant life. I was never raised religiously, and wasn't even baptized, even though my grandmother would have liked that, so I've never made the leap of faith towards religion. There are also far too many aspects of intolerance in religion for me to make the jump either. I mean, obviously, not all religious people hold these intolerances, but it seems to me that more religious people hold them than don't. After all, they're taking their cues from a book that's thousands of years old, or changing it to fit their personal prejudices.
I also believe in the existence of aliens and perhaps ghosts, though I can't truly say I've had paranormal experiences. Once, the night following my grandfather's death, I had a dream of him healthy and happy again, smiling warmly at me from his upstairs lounge chair, and I felt that he was fine, wherever he'd gone. And then after my dog's death, right when we got out to the car, there was this wild turkey waiting right by it. And while it's not quite a chicken, (we called our dog a little chicken sometimes), it's pretty damn close, and it felt like something of a sign. And yes, the mind is capable of reaching for comfort in troubling situations, so it could be just that, but I like to believe otherwise. Maybe I just have hope of some sort.

You appear to be a pretty logical guy, Dru. What have you seen that makes you believe that there is something other than oblivion awaiting us?

Well ......... I did ask.

Well, I do like to think I'm pretty logical... to a point(s). I think I'm pretty much open minded, so if I saw something that I believed was a miracle, or some sort of sign, or what not... I don't really know. I might believe in some greater providence, or I might write it off. My experiences are hardly worth writing home about, really. And they're all I've ever had, so while I don't consider myself in the camp of belief or disbelief in God, I'm certainly not closed off to other dimensions or existences. And to the poster who spit coffee on their desk, was it done in humor, or disbelieve in the ridiculousness of what I posted? You've piqued my curiosity. And reports of coffee spitting are always interesting.
