There are differences. To be a homosexual means you have romantic feelings towards people of your own sex and are not at all attracted to people of the opposite sex. Even if you believe that acting on these feelings is sin, it is a complete disregard for your own intellectual abilities to blindly believe that people 'choose' their sexual orientation.
