Just for the heck of it did you feel the same about the blm / antifs attacks and occupation of policevststion, court house, ICE,
autonomous zones and burning govt blogs with workers inside?
Yes, in fact I did.

Many years ago, I was part of the LGBT protest movement in Toronto -- I was part of the very first Pride Parade in our city. But even then, I never tolerated damaging public property, or hurting innocent people.

Several years ago, BLM actually shut down Toronto's Pride Parade while it was in progress, and forced the Pride Committee to accept banning of all police participation in future Pride activities. As someone who was once beaten by police in my own city, I know how much work has gone into building the relationship between them and LGBT, and how positive that direction has been -- up to and including openly gay members of Toronto's force, at the officer level. This is a good thing, to me.

As a consequence, though I was there at the first, I have withdrawn all my support for Pride activities in Toronto, and have neither attended nor contributed to anything since that day.

So the answer is yes.

It's basically fascism when a socialist government is hand in glove with mega corporations in an attempt to control information and it's dispersion.

Are you suggesting that is currently the case?

And are you also suggesting that all information, including incorrect information that has a detrimental impact on communities, should have full and equal treatment without interference?

Progressives suddenly supporting corporation rights is a good joke.

Let's see how long that lasts ... maybe until another baker refuses to make a cake with certain decorations on it.

Well to be fair, I haven’t seen many progressives cry foul when actions have consequences. Seen it from the conservatives though.

The problem though, is that people whose actions didn’t have consequences are being thrown in the same basket as radicals... That's regression by people who know better.

Which actions specifically, if I may ask?

The man in the OP went to the Whitehouse rally and then went home... He didn't go to the Capitol building at all, yet he's treated by his business partners as if he's a criminal anyways.

Where do we draw the line? People repeating Trump's lies about the election did add fuel the fire Trump started. Those Republicans who refused to shoot down those lies and instead promoted them, their actions had consequences. Those news sources like Newsmax and OAN who echoed Trump's lies too are responsible for what happened.

Just like all Muslims are responsible for terrorism, because they don't speak out against it enough?

...I'm so confused by your morals. I was under the impression that it was a bad idea to paint all members of a group with the same brush as the worst of them.

Well guilt by association is an unfortunate consequence of our 24/7 media obsessed society. I’ve seen the live footage for myself. There’s like hours and hours of it. If I was associated with such events, even if I didn’t participate in such events, yeah I have no doubt I’d be either fired or at the very least find myself in the boss’s office.
I would only blame myself for getting my face caught on camera, not my employers. As much as I would like to. Or get a better Union, I dunno. You guys have unions, yeah?

I didn't say anything about those being silent, rather those repeating the lies that lead to an insurrection.

It includes both owning up to your actions and being aware that words can have consequences. Words can get people hurt. Words can lead a mob attempting to overturn a legit election and replace democratically elected officials (but I guess that is a time-honored American pastime).

Okay, just like Muslims calling it blasphemy to depict an image of their prophet are all responsible for Charlie Hebedo killings. Is that fair?

...I'm just trying to figure this out - how this works, or doesn't.

I thought we were past this as a 1st world society. I guess we're not, but rather can pick and choose between groups ones that are okay to discriminate against by mere association and others that are not. Is that right?

Okay, that seems fair, and I think that he should fight for fairness. And if what you say (and he says) is true, then I think fair-minded people should stand up for him and demand fairness as well.

That seems more in line with modern standards for social behavior.

What if I were to say that gay and trans people are generally two-faced and often have no problem talking about people behind their backs and are often snitches..? Would that be fair to say too?

I think it would be fair to @Shadow Wolf if it were true, Cooky. Don't you? To me, fairness is determined by whether or not something is true, not by who is offended.

But as I see it, there are two questions involved here, not just one. The first is a factual question about whether people have been doing X. That should and must be decided by the facts. It is too important of a question to leave up to people's fantasizing.

The second question is whether -- if people have indeed been doing X -- then what can and should be done about it? At this point, there is room for feelings, emotions, values, and such to weigh in. Indeed, they should be weighed and taken into account.

My 2 cents.

Oddly enough, I know some of the people (nobody here) advocating discrimination of select groups have been stung themselves. How could they let it happen, that they would then support discrimination against another, knowing the unfairness of it... There must be some level of mental training that goes into that, perhaps the media conditions people a certain way..?
