The ideal behind America is that everyone is created equal and that most especially includes equality before the law. "Special compassion" means that women are considered to be inferior by their very nature and thus not as responsible as men when it comes to legal issues and I reject that.Um, do I get it that do you guys who voted the first option have no special compassion for women vs. men? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I understand from it.

It works very badly or counterproductively. The damage is both physical and mental, sometimes it pushes them over the edge or kill them by accident. Physical punishment favors people with high pain thresholds and a tough young body that still heals relatively fast.Just my opinion but i don't have an issue with physical punishment.
I once got slapped in the face as a kid for something I didn't do, still hate the guy who did it.
Something like forced labour is even a physical punishment.
Hello guys.
What do you think of punishing men and women, for the same violation deserving of punishment, based on their gender? For the sake of discussion, let's discuss a line a heard in an anime just now; "he's going easy on you. If you were a man, he would have rearranged you face". The setting was a cadet female soldier disobeying a direct order causing trouble and getting slapped for it by the leader. What do you think of this saying and what the woman got?
I personally agree with the outcome and think women should receive lenient punishment than what their actions deserve than men for the same mistake, if it has a punishment, of course.
As for the poll, physicality is a heavy part of it to consider when voting.
Corporal punishment should be banned. So with the physical element removed, it should be equal.

Now as pointed out, there are a very very few exceptions such as not executing a pregnant woman (until she gives birth) but that's a special and rare case.
How many lashes would you trade for six months? Why should corporal punishment be removed? I know I would rather receive a lashing than spend six months in jail.

I agree that the practice does not meet the idealI don't think America is actually any better when it comes to sexist sentencing:
"
A new study by Sonja Starr, an assistant law professor at the University of Michigan, found that men are given much higher sentences than women convicted of the same crimes in federal court.
The study found that men receive sentences that are 63 percent higher, on average, than their female counterparts.
Starr also found that females arrested for a crime are also significantly more likely to avoid charges and convictions entirely, and twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted.

And it shouldn't be that way.So is jail time.
And it shouldn't be that way.
I understand, and I think that's horrific and inhumane. The prison system in the US is the same and it's very shameful. But for now it is. So given the choice between jail time and a good lashing, I would take the lashing anyday. In our prisons here in South Africa going to jail carries with it the very real possibility of being raped, getting infected with HIV, becoming a more hardened criminal than you were when you got in prison, or getting killed.
