Putin who the hell do you think you are?

And they'd be fully aware of Russia's increased capability.
I refer to Simo Hayhas because of his attitude, not just
skill as a sniper.
Only nukes or other wmds scare the likes of Putin. I would suggest Scandanavia needs them.

Nukes do indeed offer deterrence. It's why Iran wants them.
Norway & Finland will have that (from allies) if they join NATO.

I would support that for Denmark, we are a very small country with little military, but Greenland is part of Denmark, so we could build a couple of nuclear missiles up there somewhere hidden and if anyone pisses us off, or don't let us win in football or other important things then we can threaten them :D

Not only is He going to war in Ukraine, but now he say if Finland and Sweden join Nato Russia has to respond with force?
The Swedish prime minister have already said that "Jag vill vara oerhört tydlig. Det är Sverige som själva och självständigt beslutar om vår säkerhetspolitiska linje, säger Magdalena Andersson" - English "I want to be extremely clear. It is Sweden itself and independently that decides on our security policy line, says Magdalena Andersson"

So Sweden is definitely not going to accept that threat as expected. :)

Putin lives in a world where power comes by brute force and he's reached the top of the power pyramid, and held onto that power for many decades, now. So he's very good at knowing when and how to wield brute force.

Our politicians live in a world where lying and cheating and stealing to amass great wealth are the preferred methods of obtaining and holding onto power. So our politicians are befuddled, now, when they are being confronted with the reality of brute force. Putin knows this, and so he knows that now is a good time to project that brute force into the world, to expand his domain. And He's quite right. Our politicians are befuddled and impotent in the face of his brutal aggression.
Putin knows that's how the world is shaped. Humanity never has been an utopia at the start, and the only thing that makes changes and sets lines is pure force weither it is war or lawmaking, its all the same. If you resist then you have to fight back or submit and be subjugated.

Obviously the best path is at a negotiating table but it's definitely not how things really work in the end.

Brute force is what wins the day or maybe what loses it. It's why we have soldiers, its why we have police.

The winner will always forever be the one with the biggest stick and not afraid to use it on this planet.

Finland & Norway might need to become a nation
of Simo Hayhas ("The White Death"). Russia has
invaded them before. And Putin is hungry.

Please excuse my flirting with Godwin's Law.
I'm just really amused by the pic.

I'd suppose that means Putin wants to invade them at some point?
Like with Ukraine, NATO can't really move against Russia because it is not a member.

I'd suggest they join ASAP.
Better not.

You really think Europe wants a war
Putin said he'd go nuclear
All will be losers

What's funny is you guys actually think Russia is in the wrong. Self-delusion of your goodness when you've done enough evil and someone has to stop your world order.

How come China has risen to its status as an economic superpower when Russia has no chance of doing so? Attitude problem perhaps?

And now the Russians threaten to weaponize space station:

Russian space chief issues a bizarre threat as sanctions pile up

"If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from an uncontrolled deorbit and fall into the United States or Europe?" tweeted Rogozin in Russian. "There is also the option of dropping a 500-ton structure on India or China. Do you want to threaten them with such a prospect? The ISS does not fly over Russia, so all the risks are yours. Are you ready for them?"

Just adding to the list of reasons never to trust Russia ever again?

It's not the way is has to be, but it is the way it is so long as humanity keep allowing greed and stupidity to rule. Most humans have no interest in conquest and would much rather cooperate for the benefit and well-being of all. But that can't happen unless we learn to identify and reign in the minority of individuals among us that want to own and control everything and everyone. These are the real enemies of humanity, but there is something in our genetic code that keeps blinding us to this reality. Brute force does not win the day when the majority of humans are asserting their desire for peace and reason. It's only when they stop minding the need to reign in those aggressives among them that brutality and force become a "reasoned" path through the world.

I actually think about that a lot and while I think your perspective is a gem in the rough, the reality of humanity is etched in nature and I'm not sure if that is something that can be completely overcome.

I tend to go with the assumption that Putin wants a ressurected USSR and/or reestablish the office of Tsar.

In some ways, like China, these monsters get created from the very people who oppose them in a twist of irony and maybe get consumed by them in the future.
