Thanks for your reply, Hinduism♥Krishna.
Did I get something wrong but how can Vishnu's body be destroyed if it is eternal? Did you mean that Krishna's form gets destroyed while Vishnu's body is eternal? As far as I know, Krishna's body was killed by a hunter.
here unfortunatly is where the arguments begin some schools see Brahman the formless as supreme other schools think of the supreme as posessing form ......
however it is not something we should argue about , ......we should allow each other to hold diferent veiws without the need to claim the superiority of our own veiw or to denegrete that veiw .
in some respects both can be applicable
in the Gita Sri Krsna explains to Arjuna , that ....his trancendental form is very difficult to understand , ..
Arjuna asks Krsna to display his universal form which you will remember that krsna can do at will , ..Krsna explains that he is the essence of all things , the super soul , ...he says ..
''of the many hooded serpents Iam Ananta , and amongst the the Aquatics I am Varuna .''...''of the departed ancestors I am Aryama and amongst the dispencers of law I am Yama the lord of Death .''...''of devotees I am Prahlada '' ...''of the weilder of weapons I am Rama '' ... he continues to say '' I am the generating seed of all existance , there is no being moving or non moving thatcan exist without me .'' .... '' with a single fragment of myself I pervade and support this entire universe.''
(last portion of chapter 10 )
in chapter 11 Arjuna requests to actualy see this marvelous form '
'If you think that I am able to behold your cosmic form , O Lord , O master of all mystic power , then Kindly show me that unlimited unversal self '' .....
''The Supreme Personality of Godhead said ; My dear Arjuna O son of Prtha , see now My opulences , hundreds of thousands of varied divine and multicolored forms .
O best of the Bharatas , see here the different manifestations of Ādityas , Vasus , Rudras , Asvini kumaras and all the other demigods . Behold the many wonderful things which no one has ever seen or heard of before .
O Arjuna , whatever you wish to see . behold at once in this body of Mine ! This universal form can show you whatever you now desire to see and whatever you may want to see in the future . Everything moving and nonmoving is here completely, in one place .''
'' But you cannot see Me with your present eyes . Therefore I give you divine eyes . Behold My mystic opulence !''
here you can plainly see that Krsna tells Arjuna that he is symultaniously Visnu , Krsna , Rama , Prahlada and all things present and future but most importantly he says that Arjuna will not see these forms with mundane Vision , ....
so here we see the need for divine vision , ..so to answer the above question , ...it is our mundane vision that sees the birth and death of Krsna , and it is through mundane understanding that we think there can be a begining and end to the lords form , ...read these verses again and again and one will see that this is not so , this trancendental form is more than our eyes or mind can behold , ....but that does not mean that the supreme is formless , it is simply that the Lords form is too vast and multifaceted for our comprehension , .....so the Lord being all mercifull adopts a form that we can comprehend , that of Visnu , of Rama or of Krsna ....at the end of this chapter Arjuna asks the lord to return to his Four armed form (visnu) as the universal form is too overwhelming this Krsna does for the benifit of his devotee .
so I hope you will see it is not possible to say that form or formlessness is superior as this just canot be so as the Lord may appear as he wishes , ..this he does for the benifit of his devotees .
In all authentic vaishnawa traditions, Vishnu and Krishna are same. Krishna was just a temporary form of Vishnu, which was assumed by Lord Vishnu to establish Dharma in Bharatavarsha. Lord Krishna is just a transformation of Vishnu in human form. Lord Vishnu's form is eternal. It is created and destroyed by the great lord time, which is among the primary manifestations of Brahman.
so we may argue a little about this , ....to me Krsna is no more a temporary form than that of Visnu , ..they are the same .
and No Lord Krsna is not ''just'' a transformation in human form , Krsna is as eternal as Visnu because he is Visnu , ...and the great lord of time is also Visnu ! .....Visnu Is eternal therefore he canot be destroyed even by a manifestation of himself .
we must remember before we claim this or that to be so that we are seeing with mundane eyes , ....but Sri Krsna through his mercy spoke these words to Arjuna so that we may attain some small amount of divine insight .
