Bwahaha!! See JS, I would substitute my smoking habit for my certain favorite narcotic, expect I'm trying to stay away from that, at least for the week, as indulging in that tends to make me smoke heavily. So I'm screwed either way.

I've only had three cigarettes in the last 36 hours. I'm actually quite proud of myself. That's GOOD for the amount I normally smoke, haha.

Very good! I'm impressed, most people I know who've quit couldn't pull that off so quickly. Now try 3 cigs in 39 hours!

Hi C1,

I don't envy you. I quit about 14 years ago now and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do up to that time. It was hell. I don't really know how I hung in there, but somehow I did.

Anyway, what helped me was using the nicotene patches. They did the trick for me. I couldn't chew the gum either, it was awful!

I ended up chewing on a toothpick lots. It wasn't very elegant, but it did help, along with the patch.

Hope you can hang in there and get off the weeds.

Thinking of you,

I only smoke 1-2 cigarettes per day, and I've done it like this for a few years now. I'd say the best thing to do when you start smoking is to never get yourself in the position where you need to smoke 10 cigarettes per day or higher. It's much easier to quit if you only do it at certain times and in a minimal way. But then, I also smoke weed, but I stop this every 2 weeks so that I never become too mentally addicted.
To quit probably the best thing would indeed be to tone it down to a minimum first, and then when you've adjusted to that, to quit it.

Increased physical energy, stronger sex drive, healthier and therefore better appearance, etc. don't forget these things about giving up. If I hadn't paid attention to those I would never have managed it! :D

I have found cutting back to be the best route. Simply giving it up cold turkey can be very hard. I was actually able to refrain from buying any smokes today when I had to chances to buy them today. So if I can get this far, so can you.

Smoking improves your thinking ability. Your brain needs a bit of carbon monoxide to function better. I started smoking about 2 years ago, and I've never really thought about quitting. But good luck to you C1. I hope you succeed.

I find smoking tobacco to labor the lungs, labor the heart, and so much other stuff, it's not worth it. It just sucks that I enjoy smoking so much, that it's no longer addiction keeping me smoking.

Frubals on your head C-1. Maybe chewing on them will help! :D

I have never smoked, so I can't give any advice: just encouragement.

OBTW... thank Justyce for me! You've got a keeper there! :D

I'll tell him you said that ND, thanks, he really is amazing. And he's keeping me on my toes. Every day when I pick him up from school, we get in the car and this is exactly how our conversation goes: "Hey Jus, how was school? Have a good day?" "Yeah, it was fun, I played a lot. How many cigarettes did you smoke today?"

I'm still working on cutting down. I'm letting my body get used to only having between 3 and 5 cigarettes a day (that was the number Justyce and I agreed upon for now), and I think this week, I'm going to cut it down to 1 or 2, and then none :D

I'm actually doing a lot better than I thought I would be. I DJed this weekend at my club and had a few drinks, and still, I kept my cool and only smoked my allotted amount.

I think it's just really easy on me because I've got so much encouragement from Justyce. He's really pulling for me and that helps me a lot.

That's great C-1, you're doing really good....How many cigs did you smoke before? More than a pack?

Your son is a kick...he's your accountability monitor isn't he? Sweet thing he is! He loves you so much.

I smoked about a pack. Sometimes more, depending on what else I was doing.

And yeah, he totally is. Believe me, I would be a lot worse for wear if it wasn't for him. He's led me to do alot of things I never would have done had it not been for him (quitting smoking, going back to school, to name just a couple). He really is an awesome little guy and I thank the Gods everyday for him.

That it is! And you can believe Justyce will be getting a lot of nice presents once I've quit for good and finally see all that extra money I've been spending on smokes, hehe

So here it is folks. C1 is attempting to quit smoking. I've never really tried before because I've never really wanted to quit, but the other day, I was sitting at the table with Justyce and I was having a cigarette and he started crying. I asked him what was wrong and he said that a couple of days ago, he had read one of the warnings on my cigarette packs and found out all the bad things that could happen to me and he didn't want anything to happen to me and could I please quit.

So here I am, attempting to quit. I went out today and bought that nicorette gum stuff and am going to really try here. For him.

Any tips? Keep me in your thoughts, it's going to be a difficult next couple of weeks, haha.

As a missionary we used to work with a lot of people who were trying to quit smoking. Grapefruit juice and cinnamon flavored stuff seemed to help them. I don't know why.

Good luck by the way! Just think of all the fun stuff that you'll get to do with the money. Put it in a jar and after a few months or something go do something really cool with it!
