Doesn't this tell you that the writers were not including Earth in this verse since Earth is clearly not an object in the sky?

The earth is not a part of the sky when on the earth.
Now if you were on mars, the earth would be a part of the sky.
But since noone back then was talking about when they were on mars (or any other planet) you are merely setting up a straw man.

Yes, Earth is a part of the solar system but it is definitely not an object in the sky, so your attempt to reinterpret verse 21:33 fails.

There's no need to interpret, the verse is clear.
the failure is only a perception of one who is devoid of
Divine Guidance.
