Rape?

Autodidact

Intentionally Blank
Sorry to make light of this poor man's plight, but seriously, if lying to get laid is rape, there's hardly an innocent man alive.

Apparently, a Palestinian man had sexual intercourse w/ an Israeli Jewish woman. He claimed to be Jewish however so he could... You know. The Israeli court claims it to be rape and charges him w/ it because they had sex under a false pretext (or whatever you would call it).

Here's a video about it:

Is this really rape? Any thoughts?

Yes - it's rape by deception. These are legal definitions - not flimsy RF ones.

Actually, I think it is the perfect topic to make jokes about. It has many of the basic elements of fine comedy. There is a sleazeball lying dude who is so horny that he's willing to lie about his ethnicity to knock off some tail. There is a woman whose expectations are completely unrealistic, perhaps even critically delusional, in thinking that she can anticipate "honesty" from any man who wants to bang her. Finally, let's throw in a crackpot court system attempting to adjudicate a matter strained not only by the current absurdities of the case but also complicated by a history of political unrest as well as cultural and religious extremism and violence.

I ask seriously . . . What the hell could be freakin' funnier?

The point is, if that's the case, you could use that charge on at least 50% of all people.

Then maybe instead of acting all high and mighty because you've now studied law, you could just explain what law says this.

That's the best summary I've seen yet. John Mortimer, QC understood the humor in law.

But on a serious note, this new highly inclusive definition of "rape" seems nothing more than a dishonest tool for oppression, at least as employed in Israel.
To be defrauded into boinking a partner who lied about his suitability seems far far less a crime than rape using violence.

NOT RAPE!
Laws are too damn harsh over there, geez. That' like lying to a Catholic woman that you're Christian when you're an Atheist so she'll date you.

It's not rape if it was consensual. Just because he lied about being Jewish that doesn't make it rape.
If he's going to get charged for that then they need to charge all the guys who said they put on a condom when they didn't, and all the girls who said they were on birth control when they weren't.

Frubals :)

As far as I know its the same judge who already had provocative verdicts in other trials which got public attention, so before people scream racism by the system they should ponder the idea of poor preformance by a specific judge.
consider that this judge also sentenced a female art student for 2 years in prison for dawing a caricature portraying the Prophet Muhammad as a pig and hanging the caricature on Arab shops.

In addition, Israeli laws on rape say that a male who has sex with a woman with her consent, which was elicited with deceit about the essence of the perpetrator or essence of the act would be charged. by this concept, a Jewish man in 2008 was also imprisoned for impersonating as a housing ministry official and promising women apartments benefits in exchange for sex.

So anybody that's horny enough to lie to someone to get sex, sleeps with anybody that's gullible and/or desperate, can be charged with rape? If that's the case, then at least 90% of the population of men should be arrested, as well as some women (as I've only slept with 2 people, I can't really say much about them lying to get sex).

And to take that further, you could report any person that you dated, slept with, then realized that they were crazy when you were under the impression that they weren't. Same with people that cheat.

So all of you don't believe in fraud in contracts either then? OK. I've got some land I'd like to sell you.
