Reason for Faith

Bring about world peace
...uh, what?

EXP is a term common in all RPGs; Pokemon wasn't even the first to use it. AD&D was.

What do experience points have to do with faith?

Lol, calm down, EXP stands for experience, that's all I meant. It's about personal experience.

It would seem that you do not like the thought of theocratic encroachment on your way of thinking , but as a theist I prefer to avoid atheistic encroachment into my life , therefore I do not read newspapers or watch telivision and am selective about what radio I listen to!
What, all of it? Has this sort of media nothing to say, at all. And what makes the written word any more believable.?
I started reading this forum out of interest and a wish to make my own assumptions about the world in which I live . I had allso chosen to read it because it is titled ' Religious forum ' I had hoped to escape atheistic scepticism !!!!!
No luck there then. But why? Are you not interested in the whole of the world? Or if only the religious is there no doubt at all in the spiritual world?

I am sure that there are some items of interest in the press and on telivision , but Im not sure that I want to waste my life sitting through hours of what to me is banal entertainment just to get to one tiny shread of information , when I want to study something in particular then I am free to look it up or take up a book of my own choosing from a respected author or source .

No luck there then. But why? Are you not interested in the whole of the world? Or if only the religious is there no doubt at all in the spiritual world?
I am very interested in the whole world , but as a religious practitioner I am of course interested in not only my own beleifs but the religious and spiritual beleifs of others .
I am interested any beleif system which helps a person live a more happy and usefull life , and yes of course there are doubts in all walks of life , both in the spiritual and the material realms .

so now my turn to ask you a question ,

why are you reading and participating in these conversations ?

what first interested you to look on some thing called "religious forum" ?

It doesn't matter if it was 98,000 years, 10,000 years or 2,000 years it's still proven suffering beyond anything we can imagine. And for what?

And what makes you think it's not going to continue?
All I meant was to be a Christian, one must believe in Christ, that's all. I believe God will restore the earth soon and there will be no more sin, death, tears or suffering.

Either way...scapegoating doesn't work.
Why did Jesus die? In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7

Nobody is asking you to believe in the pain and suffering which occurred in the centuries before the human sacrifice. It happened. There is proof to support it in both science and scripture and due to the fact that it's still happening today.

The point is that you believe what you believe in spite of the known facts. Because of this, it makes God seem either unbelievably callous, capricious and lazy or unbelievably incompetent.

People are the only way that this planet is going to improve. Sin, death and tears are an integral part of being a human being by the way. I'd hate to live forever and never cry.

Flesh cannot inherit the kingdom.

He didn't die to save anyone.
His salvation is found in His teachings...His parables.

He died for objection to His speech making.
From the moment he pronounced....
'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.'......
the pharisees sought to have Him dead.

It may interest you to know, the 'golden rule' was not authored by the Carpenter.
It was written in stone, hundreds of years before Him.
No one knows who wrote it, first.

But it was not considered law, by Moses.
Moses wrote,'...an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth...'
The law of Moses is retroactive, a law of retribution.
It will be done unto you, as you have done unto others.

The 'golden rule' is a proactive law.....you first.
You want good things?....you first, unto others.
You want a blind eye to your shortcomings?....you first, unto others.

The 'golden rule' is heathen law, everyone knew it.
And the Carpenter did quote heathen law in the face of the pharisees, as they came asking which law is greatest. He quoted heathen law before quoting Moses.
The pharisees were greatly offended, but could not make denial.

Agreed.
Matthew 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “ ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 This is the great and [a]foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

But it was not considered law, by Moses.
I don't think we are on the same page.

I think you're forgetting the fact that, according to the Tanakh, God provided other ways for people to be alleviated from suffering.

My Bible says, and I believe:

And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 8:31

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Cor. 15:1-4

Nay...

Had you kept reading you would know...
'from this hour that sought to have Him dead.'

I don't think we are on the same page.

Correct...keep reading.

I'm not forgetting anything. The pain and suffering HAPPENED, alleviation or not. If you don't believe it, read fact-based books. If you do recognize it, take a long close look at your scripture and your god.

It might help if you take a long close look at the poster's religion.

I'll give you a hint: they aren't Christian or Jewish.

I already responded to the initial post. This was obviously in response to the person who was quoted... kinda how the whole forum method works.

Are you saying the poster you quoted and responded to is Christian or Jewish, or you were not speaking to the poster you quoted?
