Reason to believe in God

Supposing that the universe came from nothing is arguably illogical.

Supposing that the universe came from a god, and that this god came from nothing, is not any more logical.

I agree; another reason why monism suits better.

Most people could not comprehend just how big that God would need to be, especially in the light of the inflationary expansion of the universe. Because according to inflation theory there was an epoch in the early universe where it expanded exponentially and the early universe is just a minute fraction of the whole universe. The observable universe would be much smaller in comparison the whole universe than a proton is to the observable universe. So with that in mind I find it impossible to believe a personal god in the mirror image of a man. It would certainly have to be a much larger and more powerful god than anything the pre-Christian pagans believed in such as Zeus or Woden and certainly much larger and more powerful than anything that those unknown authors of the Bible could imagine. That is a very good reason for me not to believe in God.

Just because things exist doesn't mean there has to be a supernatural cause to their existence. I have found no good reason to believe in a god. I did most of my life, and all it did was cause chaos. I find that it's more satisfying to be good because I want to be, not because I have to be. I find that my life is easier dealt with when I have control over it, rather than giving it to some other being. And I find that the natural explanations for the existence of things is more satisfactory than supernatural ones. But, to each his own. People need religion, and some people need to believe in a god. I believe that all religions are valid and important. But, like I said, I have found no reason at all to accept the idea of the existence of a god.

It looks like a variation of the question: "Why is there something, rather than nothing?"

There is the parable of the left-handed muon, and the science of the violation of the law of parity...

For the OP, however, I stuck those three terms in my logic processor... reason... belief... god...... danger, Will Robinson, danger! After taking the fire extinguisher to my brain, I conclude:

Epic. Fail. :D

"The very fact that something exists is reason enough to believe in God."
Anonomous

I agree.
I think it's interesting that as soon as something is believed to exist, its seems that God or not becomes a question.
Is the question of God only important if you believe there are objects seperate from yourself?

The reason to belive in god, is that all things testify there is a god. the stars above and the earth beneath. the human body, the trees, the animals in there respective elements. all these things testify of a divine creator. I think of it as this. if there is a design there is a designer
