Recognition of Same-Sex Relationships, 1989-2010

This is my first attempt at making a video. There's no sound; it's just a crude slideshow. And there was some loss of what little quality there was when I uploaded it. But anyway, I learned a little, and I hope my next one will be better.

Yeah it was. It's really sad how some no-brainers take what seems like ages to become just that... a civil issue that really shouldn't have to be thought about at all.

It's sad that Canada has federal gay marriage, and the US is still lagging behind. I think Oregon is close to recognizing same sex marriages though. They already recognize partnerships and civil unions.

Great job!

A few suggestions:

Stick the changing dates and events in one place, with the date perhaps right above the event. As it is you're making the reader's eye jump all over the place, which effects readability. I would also attach a line from each named event to the area so one could better make the visual connection. Other than that I thinks it's excellent.

First of all, the United States government is very different from Canada's, so "federal gay marriage" is not legally possible. There is no enumerated constitutional power for the federal government to regulate marriage.

Second of all, and less likely to impress anyone in this day and time, homosexuality is both a mental illness and an abomination in the eyes of God, and I would hope that our government would not encourage anyone to pervert the institution of marriage in this way.

See Loving v. Virginia.

Homophobia is a mental illness, and your god is an abomination in the eyes of all decent people.

Are you kidding me? You are honestly trying to equate race with sexual perversion? A man can't help it if he's colored. He can definitely choose not to put his private parts where a man evacuates his bowels.
And a man can definitely choose not to put his private parts in a chocolate vagina. But it should be his choice, and hers, not the choice of bigots and morons who think the god of their impoverished imagination is real.

The dark ages were 600 years ago.

Also, why does it concern you what others do. Is it really tht concerning that you people ignore the problems with your own and instead attack others? Calling homosexuality a mental illness is offensive and untrue. I think you owe Smoke an apology.

The day gay marriage is a national reality in America. I'm either throwing a party or going to someone's party and hopefully get a chance to call up my daughter and let her know America became a better place that day.

Could it be...because I am a preacher?

Homosexuality is a mental illness, as specified in the DSM. Yes, I understand that some people got together and had it removed in DSM2, but I don't happen to agree with them. Also, drug use and suicide, which go along with homosexuality, are definitely mental illnesses...or would you like to dispute that?

Because it doesn't agree with your justification for "counseling" homosexuals.

As drug use and suicide "go along with" heterosexuality, and meat eaters, and brunets, and people over 5' 10", and . . . . . . .

All that means to me is that you're a leader of ignorance and intolerance instead of a follower.

Doesn't your wonderful *cough* god tell you to not judge others? So why judge homosexuals so harshly? You used to do the same with black people but for some reason you got over your ignorance in that instance.

People like you unfortunately are the reason there is so much trouble in the world.

I dispute it actually, given that i have homosexual friends who are normal people and fantastic friends, always willing to help. They cop abuse from absolute idiots all the time who criticise their lifestyle. Its pathetic and people who do it should be removed from society. Perhaps the reason the rates are so high is because they have to deal with offensive people like you?

Let me say (whether i get in trouble or not who cares) shame on you. Your opinion on this matter is offensive and i would expect better from a community leader. Who are you to judge what others do behind closed doors? How can you follow a God who invites the condemnation of a particular group of people? Do you have any kind of humility?

Dr. James Robertson did you ever consider that the reason some gay people turn to suicide and drugs is because of how society treats them? I know you didn't, you think it's somehow our fault for who we're attracted to. Secondly, with the overturning of Prop 8 the government has said exactly that, that it may be prepared to overturn DOMA in all states. The only thing holding it up is the appeal.
