Regarding the Filtering of Profanity

I feel so relieved to know that RF will now be free of all abbreviations that could even be interpreted to maybe imply bad words. This was the firm stance that we really needed to keep these conversations civil.

Excuse me while I go to give more frubals to the users in another thread arguing against literal hate speech.

"Parental guidance 13?" So if we get a note from our parents, profanity is OK?

If we're atheists, and nothing is intrinsically profane, can we claim an exception?

"PG-13 is supposed to shield the delicate, under thirteen class, from dangerous words and ideas that would warp their minds and possibly drive them mad. Do we have such a demographic of young snowflakes on RF?

I see rule #8 being violated all the time. Why single out profanity?

Each Sunday the staff meet to vote on things we can announce to annoy @Valjean. This week it just so happened to be an announcement to help others understand expectations when it comes to profanity and the filter to protect our members from escalating moderation.

Mission accomplished.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It's amazing how obsessed people get over a simple ***** word.

Like that swear word will kill someone or something like that.

The reason the policy is in place isn't about how obsessed a person might get over a word.

Religious Forums is responsible for maintaining PG-13 content in accordance with our agreement with our site sponsors.

As the Beach Boys (or some other similar) might have sung - shag is a bird, bird, bird, shag is a bird. :D

Sometimes the 'profane' word is the right and necessary word to use. In such a (very rare) instance, I feel that tricking the auto-cop is ok.
