It was a fundamental change in nature, and we inherit our natures from our parents.Still, why should Adam's unholiness be passed to us?
Because Original Sin isn't a sin.if Christ died for the sins of man, why is there still an Original Sin?
Uh... okay. What is it then?Because Original Sin isn't a sin.
This kind of terminology drives me nuts! What the heck is a sinful state? Would you sit a 4-year-old down in front of you and say, "You're a liar!" if he hadn't lied? Would you say, "You're a thief!" if he hadn't stolen something? Of course not! How can a person be in a sinful state for no other reason than that he had the potential to do something? As I quoted from the CCC in post #35 Original sin is "sin" only in an analogical sense... it is a state, not an act.
Indeed...This kind of terminology drives me nuts!
Not a "sinful" state, there is no personal fault... it is a fallen state, a lack of the holiness man was originally created with. How can a person be in a sinful state for no other reason than that he had the potential to do something?
