Religion and Lore: What started it...

To someone who believes in it, the bible is the evidence.

Which is about as silly as saying that to someone who believes in it, the Necronimcon is evidence. Or Aesop's Fables are evidence. Just because you want something to be true doesn't make it true.

Even though I do not believe in the the religious law of the bible I believe there is likely to be some historical truth in it.

Sure there's some historical truth in the Bible, especially if you look at the latter parts of the Old Testament, but there's also a lot of demonstrable fantasy in it. In fact, the parts that most people use to justify their religious beliefs are just nonsense. It's foolish to claim that because a book has some history in it, that it must all be valid.

I didnt say it makes it true, and I didnt say it made complete sense lol.

That doesn't stop people from pretending it though. If it doesn't make sense, if it doesn't stand up to critical evaluation, it ought to be rejected, at least until someone can provide actual evidence to support it.

It's no more valid than Harry Potter or Spider-Man comics. Those have historical elements in them too.
