Um...
No need for diplomacy in this case, I think...I was being diplomatic.
Most of this isn't even religious freedom. Is this a parody? Or is this full on serious? What did he do to further the religious freedom of Muslims, Jews, Sikhs or pagans? It sounds like he pushed a conservative agenda and you have conflated that with religious freedom. Which is rather telling as religious freedom is often just used as a proxy title for "I want to hurt certain groups of people and feel justified while doing it"Recently joining RF, it is disheartening to read posts antithetical to the greatest champion of religious liberty, generally, and Jewish and Christianity in particular since the demi-god's, the Founding Father's passed the 1A.
Friends, Judeo-Christians, Countrymen!
Lend me your ears.
I come to bury Trump not to praise him ...
Seriously, the personal attacks against the man show a pettiness that is beneath the dignity our Lord died for. Let's look at the record and put it in historic context. Moses and David were murderers and Cyrus did not even know God but God used them for His purpose. Trump might be the most pro-religion president ever. Christian conservatives are judging Trump not by his faith, but by his works. And when it comes to life and liberty, his works are good. An incomplete summary:
- Stopped federal funding of abortions - Day One
- Only President to Attend March For Life
- Repealed Johnson Amendment - so religious leaders may speak out on political matters without penalty.
- Created the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division at the Department of Health and Human Services to protect the civil rights of doctors, nurses and other health-care workers who refuse to take part in procedures
- Established the 1776 Commission (countering the pernicious 1619 Project) promoting "patriotic education" including the Judeo-Christian values that established our national contract.
- his Justice Department issued 25-page guidance to federal agencies instructing them to protect the religious liberty in the execution of federal law.
- Limit Gay Couples Adopting.
- Aggressively argued State of Indiana ex rel. Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis v. Marion County Superior Court - and won
- Aggressively argued Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru - and won. Allowing religious organizations to make faith based decisions even if it offended feminist groups and LGBTQ sensibilities.
- Advocated saying "Merry Christmas" and not bow down to politically correct thought police offended by anything other than 'Happy Holiday' and Winter Vacation rather than the traditional 'Christmas Break.'
- Appointed 264 Conservative, Pro-Life Judges - including 3 Supreme Court Justices. More than any POTUS ever.
- Recognized Christianity in America is under sustained attack.
- DCPD-201700309 - Executive Order 13798-Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty
- Recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel
- Moved the US Embassy to Israel's capital, like America has in most, if not all other countries.
- Made Peace in the Middle East and started no new wars. The first president to achieve this record in half a century.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God
Matthew 5:9
I suspect that the artificial inflation of the list is because the really really small list of just religious things was not impressive enough. Most of this isn't even religious freedom. Personally as an atheist I have no problem saying "Merry Christmas" nor do I resent when others say it to me. Christmas is a very secular holiday these days.Okay I have to ask this of my Americastani RF friends.
What is up with the Happy Holidays controversy I keep seeing?
Like do you guys not get holidays around the Christmas season? Do people wish others a merry Christmas before Dec 25th? That seems so odd to me.
Sorry, just curious. Carry on.
Fair enough.Personally as an atheist I have no problem saying "Merry Christmas" nor do I resent when others say it to me. Christmas is a very secular holiday these days.
I ran still has it out for Trump, over that missile strike that killed their general. Amd did you forget they already did attempt to retaliate? And they're still making threats.started no new wars.
"Happy holidays" arose out of political correctness. Not wanting to offend others to the point of offending them. When I used to own a small retail store I found it rather ironic that the atheist there (me) would say "Merry Christmas" and the Christian would say "Happy holidays". By the way, I never told her what or what not to say. It was her choice and fine with me. I would not go along with that sentiment, but I was not going to order her not to greet people in the way that she thought was appropriate.Fair enough.
I celebrate it myself. Usually more as a day off with family (well I consider them family at least, they’re actually my parents close friends) rather than doing anything religious. Ironically much of my “family” are actually Christians. Just moderate types.
It just, like why do people care if others say Happy Holidays? I just assumed that phrase was neutral since no one around here says Merry Christmas unless it’s on the actual day or like “have a merry/happy Christmas.”
Granted I’m sarcastic enough that if someone were to say it to me, I might be inclined to say “and a Happy Hanukah.” But I’m a snarky jerk so
I used to be rather reactionary towards so called “Political Correctness.” But the more I look into in such “controversies” the more I think it’s all much ado about nothing."Happy holidays" arose out of political correctness. I'm partial to the Republicans about this. The courts think Islam is a religion, so its permitted to grow here in the USA and work to overcome our democratic basis. I think this will eventually turn the USA into a theocracy if the Republicans don't, first.Ask the Muslim here if Trump is pro-religious since he banned them until being told by his staff that the courts would not uphold that since it would violate the 1st Amendment.
#1 doesn't necessarily do anything to help stop abortions.
Outlawing adoption is hardly the right reaction.
It would be more impressive if the man could have displayed some sign of any of the Christian virtues during his tenure.
Made peace? Give me a break. There is no peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
Doing what the founders of the US abhorred and tried to prevent.
This is why church and state should always remain separate.
I'm inferring from the OP that you think the U.S. is a Christian nation?
This one is just weird.
