The "WE" who tolerate this are millions of people who disagree with your views. You are no expert when it comes to computer Operating Systems and you are probably no expert when it comes to automobiles.

A large factor why Microsoft has dominated the OS market for so long is that they made deals with a number of major hardware manufacturers and distributors to pre-install Windows as an OS. In addition, OS being what they are, once you attain a dominant market position, you are effectively setting standards for future software development to your own benefit - so the longer MS retained their position, the greater an uphill battle competitors were facing, in addition to Microsoft's advantageous positions with hardware manufacturers.

This lead to a situation where "quality" in the sense of reliability, performance, and ease of use has become a minor, almost marginal, factor when it comes to determine market dominance for operating systems.

What is a "Windows computer"?


Time and time again, assessments find Fords are prone to problems and Windows programs are less secure and stable than open-source alternatives.

Again, your open-source OS's like Linux do not run many commercial software systems. What good are they if you can't run your desired programs?

They argument is they are more stable and reliable. And they are. But people turn to the inferior product of Windows, so people develop for that one.
