Republican Tax Nonsense

See "Stupid People," section b.

Seriously, it's weird how Republicans can get so many people to vote for their platform that they openly hate. Everyone who doesn't make $100k a year, and I suspect that most people don't... are harmed by the Republican party.

When we have a draft to fight in Iran and N. Korea (not to mention the ongoing war in Afghanistan and Iraq), our young men and women will suffer.

Our economy will suffer as well - and this really confuses me - business owners and wealthy folks lost a lot when Reagan's policies caused the markets to fail. Even though they were greatly harmed, they want to do it again.

Insanity.

Hi Smoke,

See "Stupid People," section b.

Thus you have confirmed my first point about having contempt for the American people. The voters can't be seeing the diminishing returns from trillion of dollars being spent by the government, no, they must be stupid.

Bush's wars bought a trillion dollars worth of blood.

A good deal of that was American, too.

Hi AE,

It's normal for the party that has the Presidency to lose control of Congress during the first voting cycle.

It would be tragic and brutally self-destructive if Americans forget what Republican policies did to this country.

Yes it is normal. It's just funny hearing liberals puzzle at why they will lose seats this November. It's fairly obvious.

Except they've figured out how to have wars without a draft. What you do is, you spend billions of dollars you don't have paying Republican Party contributors to supply mercenaries at far greater expense than training and paying regular soldiers. Then, the second you lose power to the Democratic Party, you start screaming bloody murder about the debt you ran up.

Yes... it's tradition.

I only hope that Democrats take their respective campaigning seriously. That is - the Republicans didn't even try to win the Presidency in 2008 - I hope that the Democrats try this time around. I don't hear them trying (hard enough).

Hi Smoke,

I think the stupidity stems from not the fact that they dislike spending, but the fact that they dislike government intervention in the economy even when it would be beneficial. The Republicans don't exactly have a reputation for being fiscally sane either. If someone really was against spending and govt intervention, they'd vote libertarian.

You know, all this partisan fighting has gotten me thinking - if politics are being increasingly polarized, that means a higher voter turnout, since extremists are, well, more extreme than moderates. I also remember in my political science class learning that democrats have a higher population of supporters, but less of a turnout than republicans. If everyone is increasing turnout, the results should theoretically benefit the democrats.
Also, people like you telling us that you're going to win in November makes us want to get more active. :)

You can't do this indefinitely.

Also, it's worse that that. US intelligence penetrated terrorist cells in Afghanistan and Pakistan and provoked them to attack US troops.

THEN Republicans scream bloody murder about the debt they ran up.

A lot of Republican leaders need to be executed for what they have done.

I have contempt for stupid people.

You keep forgetting that those who fall for Republican propaganda are not "the American people." The American people are very diverse, and include all those liberals and "educated elites" for whom you have such obvious contempt.

Take a look at Obama's approval rating. A majority of the American People don't approve. Are they all stupid?

Hell, no. I don't approve of him myself. I can't stand the man. But that doesn't mean I'm going to run out and vote for Sarah Palin or Chuckles the Clown or whatever insult to our intelligence the Republicans nominate in 2012, and it doesn't mean I'm going to vote to re-elect the belligerent, halfwitted Republican Congressman from my district, either. (However, the belligerent halfwit will almost certainly be re-elected, because I live in the reddest Congressional district in one of the reddest states in the union.)

Look at the economy right now, the trillions being spent is not helping. The liberal argument for more government spending has no credibility because people see the sorry state of the economy as liberals have spent trillions attempting to jumpstart it.

You are right, Republicans don't have a great fiscal track record, yet Obama and the Democrats are making Republicans look like penny pinchers.

Yes, and his wars and economic policies are still crippling the US.

1) Republican economic policies destroy the economy.
2) Republicans lose elections.
3) Republicans blame the Democratic Party for the poor economy.
4) Stupid people vote for the Republicans because of the poor economy.

I mean, seriously. If that's not stupid, I'd like to know what the hell is.

That 'bout sums it up.
