Republicans are a threat to democracy

Well look at that, there are leftist journalists trying to spread propaganda to cover for the Democrats. But the people aren't buying it. They experienced the inflation that peaked over 9% and prices for groceries that have gone up 20% under Biden/Harris when they go to buy groceries. They know that the supposed high employment numbers mask that most of the "new jobs" are part-time and going to immigrants. And the rising debt. The spin isn't working.
Since when are Forbes and WSJ Left?
And inflation isn't the total measurement of an economy's health. It just isn't.

There are people who would say anything no matter how outlandish or false it may be.
and even worse we then get the inevitable "communist" thread on RF.
Some would say Democrats are communists and are more of a threat.
They have Communist views and have done everything thing in their power to defeat trump before the election begins.
Hence the vast number of nationalised industries and collectivised farms that have occurred since Biden won.
Perhaps @Maninthemiddle is soon to become man in the gulag.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Here's what I think:

For starters, the entire world economy was affected negatively by the pandemic. Then we had the fuel crisis. Between the two, did we even really have a chance? I think not.

Wait. According to all those Trump ads Immigrants are getting welfare so they don't have to work at all. And it gives those immigrants more time to go around joining gangs and committing murder after murder of good white people. So which is it?

Have a chance?
The opportunities during Covid were great.
Employers were desperate for workers because
Trump was paying so many so much to not work.
Stock prices fell to bargain levels. (We did very
well, especially with Apple & airline stocks.)

There are 2 approaches to economic change....
1) Seize opportunity.
2) Complain & fail.
The choice is entirely ours.

What "fuel crisis"? The last fuel crisis the U.S. had was in 1979.

Gas companies gouging consumers is not a fuel crisis.

SCOTUS made the POTUS a king who does not face the law for certain crimes. President Biden today declared a state of national emergency over threats to democracy and outlawed the Republican party, arrested two SCOTUS members and several from Congress. His speech indicated it was done because of his oath to defend the Constitution and therefore can't be charged with a crime.

The right is attacking voting rights in every way possible. They are also creating a big government bureaucracy to monitor women who get pregnant to make sure they don't cross state lines for an abortion. They also want to outlawethe abortion drug. They are declaring that all men are not created equal and that non parents are second class citizens.

I could go on for pages.
Biden ought to declare combovers and fake tans illegal. And overly white teeth, hairspray and referring to idiot speak as ‘facts’. That would outlaw pretty much the entirety of the annoying types. Maybe they could all move to Florida, and secede.

This was in today's news. And it's good news, albeit that I've never heard of the guy, Mr. Luttig seems to be some sort of right-wing influencer. A retired federal appeals court judge, who is a prominent conservative legal scholar put on the bench by President George H.W. Bush.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/19/poli...-calls-trump-a-threat-to-democracy/index.html

.

“In the presidential election of 2024 there is only one political party and one candidate for the presidency that can claim the mantle of defender and protector of America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law,” Luttig wrote in a statement obtained exclusively by CNN. “As a result, I will unhesitatingly vote for the Democratic Party’s candidate for the Presidency of the United States, Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.”

“In voting for Vice President Harris, I assume that her public policy views are vastly different from my own,” Luttig writes, “but I am indifferent in this election as to her policy views on any issues other than America’s Democracy, the Constitution, and the Rule of Law, as I believe all Americans should be.”

The stakes, Luttig argues, are as high now as in the late 18th century, when the country’s founders and authors of the US Constitution – including Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, typically political foes – joined together to voice concern over the potential emergence of an authoritarian demagogue.
---------

Speaking to CNN, Luttig said his decision to publicly back Harris was a matter of knowing “right from wrong” – and acting in accordance.

“In my faith, we believe that we will one day answer for our wrongs. I have always tried to live my life in anticipation of that day. Imperfectly, to be sure. But I have tried,” an emotional Luttig said. “My endorsement of the Vice President was the right thing to do. It would have been wrong for me to stay silent, and I believe I would have one day had to answer for that silence.

“It’s really that simple.”

Add increased taxation, job layoffs and workers replaced with illegal immigrants, and price fixing. Harris is an economic disaster.

Maybe actually study instead of just parroting the right-wing media. Unemployment is at its lowest in half a century and illegal immigration is roughly down 50% of what it was. I don't have the comparative rate of taxation, so I'll have to look it up later when I have more time as I'm leaving shortly.

According to the US Department of Labor the current unemployment rate is 4.3% and rising. In September of 2019 it was 3.5%. Illegal immigration under the Biden/Harris administration has skyrocketed. According to the U.S. Custom and Border Protection there have been over 10,000,000 illegal immigrants encounters since 2021. That isn't down. Actually the rate is three times higher than under the Trump administration. That also is only encounters and does not include illegal immigrants who evaded border agents.

Um, 2019 is BEFORE covid hit!

On illegal immigration, read this:
"Encounters on the southern border of those trying to enter the U.S. without authorization have gone up significantly under President Joe Biden. Government statistics show that in the initial processing of millions of encounters, 2.5 million people have been released into the U.S. and 2.8 million have been removed or expelled.

Some Republicans, however, have misleadingly suggested the number released into the country since Biden took office is much higher..."

And I keep getting notifications that prices are still going up.

"Law of Supply & Demand" that no president nor party has control over. We came out of covid quite strongly, which led to more demand than supply-- thus inflation.
