I'd never run for office.
But to convince the people to stage a coup which installs me as president, I propose my agenda.
(It's not complete, but I'll add to it as time goes by.)
I'll really be more of an all powerful dictator, so some of my agenda will have not just federal effect, but also local.

Overall goals
Create a structure which would survive my reign, & subsequent elections of new presidents.
Give most people what they already want (even welfare state features), but with minimum coercion, ie, a libertarian flavor as much as possible.
Behave more ethically towards other countries, particularly our enemies, thereby avoiding making enemies.
Government should not profit from currency devaluation
Enhance local control, limited by constitutional guarantees of civil rights & liberties.

Taxes
Every person gets $10,000 per year just for being alive.
Eliminate
- Personal deductions (eg, home mortgage interest, home property taxes).
- Corporate taxes (because shareholders are taxed on the income).
- Income tax for low income earners.
- Self-employment tax & payroll taxes.
There is one kind of income tax with only one rate of 20%:
- Capital gains & interest income are adjusted for inflation.
- Employment, investment, stock dividends, etc.

Whatever revenue this generates, government must spend no more, except:
- In time of war
- Devastation from a 1000 ton meteor strike.

Defense
Eliminate:
- Non-defense spending, eg, police actions, nation building, military adventurism
- Non-productive offensive action, eg, Iraq war.
Decentralize energy production so as to harden it from attack.
Continue advanced design, research, & implementation to meet future war scenarios.

Social
Eliminate:
- Assistance programs which become redundant under the new tax structure.
- Affirmative action programs
- The war on drugs
- Unemployment insurance (which incentivizes sloth).
Legalize many recreational drugs.
Improve mental health care.
Single payer medical system for basic care, with the right to opt out for better.
Tighter boarder control.
Government is fully liable for damages it causes to individuals & companies:
- Prisons should be safe for inmates.
- Government shall compensate for prosecutions which fail to convict.
- Government shall compensate for any wrongful act it commits.

Legal
Constitutional law:
Interpretation shall be based upon original intent.
Changes shall only by constitutional means...not by USSC fiat, by legislation, or by administrative rules.
Tort reform:
Institute a loser pay system. People filing suits must meet strict evidentiary standards, & post a bond sufficient to pay the other party.
Lawyers found to have filed a frivolous or vexatious suit will be disbarred.
Probate:
All trustees must become licensed, & would be strictly regulated.
Criminal:
Jailed people have a right to safety & self improvement.
Fewer people should be in jail.
All public servants should be subject to entrapment.
Lawyers:
They should be sanctioned for any material misstatement of fact or hiding of evidence.

Monetary & Financial
Inflation should be held to near zero.
No federal funding for local projects. This will curb boondoggles.

Regulation
All states shall honor constitutional gun rights.
More training for firearms ownership & use will be required.
Regulation shall only be allowed where there is clear benefit based upon cost benefit analysis.
Current regulations shall be cut 90%.

If you'l close foreign military bases you've got my support.
You seem much lefter than any candidate that would get in in America.
I'd close any bases which don't serve a self defense goal.
It's difficult to be specific because the nature of warfare is changing,
& I've been out of the defense industry for a long long time.
I'd need to consult with more knowledgeable folk.

- Business failures.
- Refusal to dress "presidential".
- Politically to extreme.
- Unwilling to campaign.
- No gravitas or charisma.
- Unwilling to subject my family to the horrors of campaigning.
- No political experience.

None of my ideas are original.
(As staff here told me, I'm just "regurgitating right wing propaganda".
It's somewhat true, but they don't give me credit for culling ideas to design a well functioning integrated system.)

It's a libertarian approach to the welfare state, ie, benefits without big government controlling the beneficiaries.
It also makes a flat income tax progressive in effect.

Wouldn't that be an even bigger welfare state, in terms of cost, than we have now? That's $3.2 trillion... :eek: Are there even enough funds for this, and couldn't it have a negative effect on economic growth and competing with other countries? What if some people feel less motivated to go out and work when they have a basic income already?
It also makes a flat income tax progressive in effect.
How does it do that?

As far as the rest goes, you just need the correct politcal party. The Brits know how to do these things.

I've seen calculations for some Scandinavian country that it would save boatloads of money compared to the system we have. The down side in the mind of a both established left/right is that it gives more freedom to people and makes them less reliant on the state bureaucratic instruments.

I like it, but I hope you understand with the restructuring of the tax code that way, and the elimination of the self-employment tax, you'd be under severe criticism of being in the pocket of the greedy sole proprietorships and other one-man/woman trades-people -- like carpenters, plumbers, etc.

I like a lot of these points, not all the details, but I think most of us agree something needs to change, and that is our most fundamental right

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Not that I agree with all of your platform, but because you are anti-establishment and you are self-funding your campaign.

But I do have a couple of questions:

* We have Red State, Blue State, and now Orange State ... but what is the color of YOUR State?

* What about about a flat consumption tax of 12.5% on all purchases, except food? And then abolish the IRS?
... ps cigs and liqour and bacon is not food.

* A 4% fee on all US dollars sent out of country to Mexico by those Express type shops?

* A massive INCREASE in legal immigration for the next 10 years, but only Hungarians, Russians, Finns, Prussians, and also some French but only French women?

How does it do that?
To answer......
- The welfare state would be reduced because bureaucracy intensive programs like welfare, WIC, unemployment insurance, etc would be replaced by the simple low overhead $10K/person stipend.
- There will be enuf funds based upon the calculations The Cato Institute did. The proposed only a 17% income tax, which was revenue neutral at the time.
(Bet you didn't expect that I had financial analysis behind this, did yah! Although, it is someone else's.)
- The incentive to work is that they'd face either no income tax, or only 20% max.
- The tax is effectively progressive based upon the $10K/year/person stipend.
The net money paid to the fed begins at negative $10K/year/person, & becomes 0% at $50K/year/person.
Above that, it asymptotically increases to 20% max.

There will always be a taxing authority, whether it's the IRS or something else.
My goal is to reduce it's size, cost, & oppression.
This is a possibility, but I've seen no analysis that it would work or have the incentives I want.
