Jesus made wrong statements like he is son of god and the unfaithful will go to hell. Tell me who is not a son of god? How can a son of god go to hell for eternity? I have heard these ridiculous statements from christians. My question is why do we need such a religion based on blackmailing?

When we look at the text, jesus never said one of those words.

I see it as a play on words. Look at context.
The "S"on of God is Jesus. Christians are children (both "s"ons and daughters) of God. They both share God's divinity. According to some Christians, the former is God the latter are not.
Since some Christians believe that children of God do not share the divinity of God (therefore, not quote on quote God), of course, they can go to hell.
I can see where you're coming from with blackmailing. However, I'd say it is a ultimatum and catch 22. I give you free will to chose death. So belieive in me (let loose your free will) and follow me or you won't have life.
It's an interesting faith. I wouldn't insult it though.

Jesus was a self realized man, he realized that he was One with God or the father, yes we all are, but he truly realized it from within, and until we truly realize that, then we are still in the carnal mind, in ignorance of our true identity. I believe that the hell fire is only a metaphor, those who live their whole life in ignorance will also be One with God, when the mind body organism is finished, then the Source or Consciousness, will still be there, it cannot go anywhere, it was always animating through the mind body, so in a way, death is the fire that dissolves the mind body leavening nothing but the Source of Consciousness, after all we are all One, and no one is higher than the other.

Jesus is the son of God. He is God the Son. He came to earth both fully human and fully divine, but whereas his human nature had a beginning, his divine nature is eternal, having no beginning and no end.
Who is not a son of God is you and me and every being other than Jesus. He was begotten of God the Father, and we are creatures. Consider that you are human because your father is human. The formula works the same with Jesus -- He is God because his Father is God.
And Jesus never made a wrong statement. You, on the other hand, made wrong statements in every sentence of your post, because you have no understanding of Christianity.

The whole "Jesus is God" thing makes zero sense to me. In the garden, why would Jesus pray to himself?

He doesn't. Jesus's shares in His Father's divinity. That's why they are one completely. That doesn't mean they are each other.
Logically, taking the spirituality out of it, the Devil would be tempting Jesus to not believe in Himself and follow the Devil instead. Yet, the Devil specifically did not say to Jesus not to follow Himself but turn away from His Father.
It won't make sense if you accept the common interpretation of Christianity. When you read the Bible, the differences make more sense.

It's not that anyone needs it, but rather that it works so darn well. Create a fear in people and then tell them how to avoid it. The blackmailing parts comes in with the avoidance. "Do this or else." This is essentially the operational bedrock of the Abrahamic religions, as well as a lot of other fear based organizations such as the NRA, and insurance companies. Nazi leader Hermann Göring explains how people can be made fearful and to support a war they otherwise would oppose:

I think you would do better to understand the words in their proper context. The 'blackmailing' claim is the only ridiculous thing you showed us here.

I think the blackmailing is from the organization called the Church, not from the man Jesus, many words have been put into Jesus' mouth just to produce fear, which is the lure to bring numbers to the church, its really disgusting.

The fake gospel of John which states 'he is the only begotten son of God', is a fabricated lie, and misrepresentation of character.
According to many religions, we're in a place close to hell down here, so we're not all sons of God; allot are evil, and just don't recognize it, as everyone else is as well.
So the argument is that granted such statements are ridiculous, why the need for them?
