Which is rated Mostly True because as they say in the piece:

"So Langworthy has strong support for his claim that New York is the highest-taxed state overall.

That said, "No state has the highest, or for that matter the lowest, tax for every tax," said Richard Auxier, senior policy associate at the Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center

For instance, New York’s individual income tax rates are relatively high at a maximum of 8.82%, but they are not the highest, trailing several states, including California with 12.3%.

Meanwhile, New York’s sales tax rate, at 4%, and its motor fuel tax rate, at 24.6%, are relatively modest compared with other states. (Most local jurisdictions in New York do levy their own sales taxes, however, which typically pushes up the overall sales tax rate to about 8%.)"

Excuse my guessing, but you are nowhere near the highest tax brackets due to income and the higher property and school tax brackets according to percentage tend to be in the poorest parts of the state which gain the most from the redistribution of state taxes in general. Be careful what you wish for.
Be careful what you read. NY sales tax is 8% and almost 9% in most places when factoring locsl taxes. I know because first I live here , and secondly it's official. 4% is a laughable running joke here and mainly a lie.

Want to explain this then?

Note taxes haven't changed since Cumo.

So? Here the roads are in pretty good shape for the most part. In Indiana they're so crappy they start cracking before they're open to tue public, the lowest bidders use substandard asphalt mixtures, and the potholes in Indianapolis get so bad that any savings on being cheap are lost from having to pay motorists over damages to their vehicles from a dire pothole situation.
Where I lived in the country I had to drive like I was drunk to avoid them. Here I've only had to do that in the middle of the Mojave.

You didn't even read that! The very first paragraph says this:
The state sales tax rate in New York is 4.000%. With local taxes, the total sales tax rate is between 4.000% and 8.875%.
Indiana has a flat rate of 7%. That's not a big difference from 8%.

Yep. I'm sure I heard laughter there.
Just because you hear someone laughing doesn't mean it was a joke. To quote Trump himself on one occasion when people said he's joking "I don't kid."

It was clearly a joke. You can take it or leave it.

How about addressing the primary causes that makes New York the least free state in the entire nation for once. Like it's massive and oppressive taxation for starters. Be careful what you read. NY sales tax is 8% and almost 9% in most places when factoring local taxes. I know because first I live here.
Yes, you live there. You chose to live there. And you receive benefits for those taxes. You've engaged in a social contract and object to doing your part. You can move to a cheaper state or country, spend less, and get less.

I live in a place with very low taxes and relatively little government support. If I wanted better roads and more policing of the street, I could move to New York and pay more taxes.

You are carrying water for others who don't know you or care about you. You are promoting a message that they but not you can benefit from - lower taxes and less regulation. The Republicans have no interest in lowering your taxes or in deregulating your life, which probably isn't very regulated at all. They want capital gains and inheritance taxes reduced, not your sales or gasoline tax. They want their factories deregulated, not your life.

The only thing my taxes benefit is paying for extravagant perks, excessive wages, and special interests porkbarrel for a bloated parasitic government.

I have absolutely nothing to benefit here in the People's Republic of New York where all my hard earned money from my labor gets sucked into a government black hole never to be seen again.

But only for a day.

Great joke.

This should never be a joking matter. Can you name any previous American president or presidential candidate who said he'd be a dictator?

Trump is a fascist, which is another reason why he refuses to bad mouth the likes of Putin, Kim, Orban, etc. Maybe read this book: "Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present" by Ruth Ben-Ghiat. Here's some information about her: Ruth Ben-Ghiat - Wikipedia

Well since you are already doomed to paying for welfare mothers anyhow since you won't move, maybe you might want to reconsider spending some of that tax money extorted from you to support a freedom for others that will reduce that extortion.

Free contraception and sex education helped Finland reduce teenage abortions by 66%

Which honestly seems like common sense, right? Someone in Finland should have a word with conservatives in the US.

You can be sneaky and backhanded and reduce you tax bill and not have to build that fence to keep the urchins from invading. :)

According to the state of new your gov page the biggest cut of the budget goes to education. Talk about a porkbarrel bit of spending. I mean who wants to live in a state with educated people?

That's what entities like the CATO institute want you to think so you'll fight for their taxes to be lowered and their businesses to be deregulated. They exist to teach you that. That's what that freedoms map by state you linked to exists for - to convince you that progressivism is harming you and stealing your freedoms. Other sources have taught you that they're stealing your money, too.

You pay a price for making their grievance your grievance - you're miserable. You hate your state and its government, and you see the deck stacked against you.

You see the Democrats as oppressing you, but what you describe is the Republican vision for all workers - the vision that leads to just enough for the worker to get by and get back to work tomorrow. What could be better from the Republican perspective that you misidentify your enemy and help them oppose their enemy who fights for ordinary people - social democracies and progressivism?

Yea with some people the quality of education improves when you throw money at it. Particularly other people's money.

That's how people get smarter. Right?

Throw tons of other people's money at it to pay off ones union buddies in exchange for votes by the teachers union.

What a wonderful report card....
