I am not buying the article to check there work.
It's free, PDF link on the right hand side. The study is there, you are simply not going to put in the effort because it might suggest you are incorrect in your thinking.

That is a striking misrepresentation of a mega-study of 50 years of research into the issue of spanking. Good god, even by the sloppiest intellectual standards imaginable, your characterization of the study stands out for being misleading.

I want to see the results of there study not an opinion piece on the study.

Seriously, can no one else see the PDF? Or is there some paywall I magically got behind?

This needs further investigations into the types of parents who routinely turn to spanking vs. other forms of punishment, and also the degree to which the child is physically caused discomfort or pain in the instances where it has been found to be most detrimental. My thoughts on this are that there is probably a strong correlation between parents who spank harder or more often and parents who tend to be hands-off with the kids' developmental needs - either not playing with them, ignoring them often, showing disdain more than any other emotional response toward their children, etc. Meaning that parents who are all too willing to harm their child in the act of spanking, or turn to it as the preferred/default punishment method probably don't really show their kids all that much actual, heartfelt "love" either. And I wonder which of those two things is more detrimental to the outcome? Spanking or less than stellar love?

The article was written citing a journal which does have statistics, citations, etc. Here you go:
http://psycnet.apa.org/psycarticles/2016-17153-001
A problem is that we don't have access to those statistics without investing $13 & much time.
Perhaps someone who has done so can enlighten us, eh?
Looking at the free summaries, I see some questions.....
1) Is age a factor? I can see a possibility that a light spank on a 2 year old would be OK, but not on a 3 year old.
2) One summary mentions debate between researchers & the public. Does this mean researchers don't all agree, or only that the public disagrees?
3) Are there critiques of the study by those in the field?
4) Your question here.... _____________________________________

This looks like one of those late nite reads.
Have you yet?
It is riveting! Edge of your seat writing for sure!

Right now, I am going through their tables and analysis of the various studies that have been done in the past.
