Running

Thanks! Turned out to be the hottest day this year - 27C. Hard work but enjoyed it.

How are you doing?

I don't mind hot, but you do have to be sure to hydrate a lot.

I have not exercised for a while because we have been on a roadtrip, it was great but now I need to move. I can feel the restlessness in my body.

Actually, it was quite unpleasant. Tripping and falling onto a pavement at speed is not recommended. I got a lump on my temple and badly grazed knees, hands and shoulder. It knocked me about a bit, as I banged my head. I've got more dressings than The Mummy! Tore my new and somewhat expensive compression leggings too...

Keep your feet up!!!

I'm so sorry you got hurt..

But Oh I loved your video..I used to run and it makes me miss it..I never ran a marathon I just ran by myself..It hurt sometimes but after that stops its one of the best feelings in the world that I have experienced.Like you are floating.I have a shirt that says "runner's high".

Anyway good job!

I have recently begun to run. I'm already in good physical shape from years of bicycling and going to the gym. That is part of the problem if you will because
I never eased into it but ran far immediately.

Now I'm beginning to get shinsplints. It's not that bad and it just started but I want to get rid of them before it gets worse.

What can I do so that these heal and don't happen again?
I have real good running shoes that has that was fitted to my body type on a treadmill. So I know that the shoes are fine.

Unfortunately there is only cement to run on where I live, so I cannot run on a softer surface. But I really love running and I don't want to stop.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

Maya

I got some cheap inserts (heel cups) at the drug store and they went away. I don't need them anymore.

I learned to stretch my shin muscles, use the curb or some type of step.

Thanks and glad you liked the video; a bit unnerving for someone like me who doesn't even like having their photo taken.

I tend to get the 'high' around the 80 minute mark. I feel like I can run forever, effortlessly. The feeling soon passes though!

I do ten 100m sprints 2x/week and jog 3 miles 2x/week.

I plan to incorporate weightlifting soon and some swimming.

Running is fun.

Good luck!

I'm excited that in a couple more months I'll be able to start jogging and running again. Although it's been a few years since I have so I don't think I'm going to be going for far or very long for awhile.

Thanks it was quite stonking. Keep at it everyone, keep ill health at bay.

The first 3km was a constant steep incline. Bloody Nora.

But the last 2km was all downhill; I've never run so fast!! Exhilarating!!

15 km in 77 mins. Not bad for an old fart!!!

Keep on keeping on.

Cool :) Congratulations!

I'm scared of running down hill. It is supposed to be worse for your knees than uphill.

I know, I tried to keep the brakes on to be gentle on the old joints but it was too tempting to resist!
