It's dire because Joe is gonna lose this thing and he doesn't look good, physically or mentally. I agree that panic is not helpful. It's one thing to panic and another to make a very much sober assessment that my house is on fire and I need to get out.

The Dems' problem is, no other candidate does any better in the polls than Joe.
Agreed.

What is important is that the names be known to most Democrats, not the general public. There is time for new candidates to build up name recognition. Whitmer and Shapiro would pair up nicely with Harris. The contest is in swing states, not the national popular vote. Whitmer and Shapiro have much better name recognition in those states. If people are always glued to Fox News, they will only begin to hear about these candidates after they become official.
Well, I never watch Fox News, I live in a state often watched as a swing, and I could tell you nothing about either. I'm preparing myself as Germany is.

Unless there is a major shift in the dynamics of the election, my bets are on Trump, whether Joe drops out or not.
I keep thinking of the slam dunk that Hilary was going to win in 2016.

I'm not comfortable with the advantage that Trump has in polls. But I can't get over the fact that Trump is total scum, and not everyone has that info. I can't see how the voters in most swing states can decide Trump is a good option given his history, and the terrible platform the RNC has. I do think a younger nominee that has good communication skill should replace Biden. It seems the biggest liability for democrats is Biden's age.

The thing is, many Trump voters are not voting for him because they think he's a good guy. They're voting for him because they prefer the policy set he represents. Swing voters, who actually decide elections these days, are often not politically active or informed. So the things that are obvious to you as someone who regularly engages with politics are not at all obvious to many other Americans.

If they support her, one has to imagine they will go with her choice after she said "let me make one thing perfectly clear, Donald Trump has my strong endorsement period"

Not according to the article.
Not much is really said there.
-The assassinationed attempt hasn't swayed them.
--They are not certain about Biden
-The guy who is talking to Haley voters that may be open to other dems instead of Biden. Either way he will keep trying to sway them toward dem.
-being receptive of ideas of Harris for ones who are uncertain about Biden.
-etc.

Lots of hope and speculation

Let me get this straight.
For months the Dems have been saying that Biden is just fine physically and mentally but now they want him gone because he will lose the election, correct?
So, they all have been lying to the American public all along about his health, does that about sum it all up?

Both parties had at least four years to prepare for this moment. Both parties did nothing.
The dems wanted to keep their puppet and the repubs were afraid to challange their rich narcissist.

For all the AOC supporters, what do you think of this? She says Harris is in jeopardy too.

Democrats Want Kamala Harris Off Ticket As Well -Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

"Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has warned that some Democrats who want President Joe Biden to quit the presidential race also want Vice President Kamala Harris off the party's ticket.

"If you think there is a consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave, that they will support Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken," Ocasio-Cortez said during an Instagram Live on Friday morning.

"I'm in these rooms, I see what they say in conversations. A lot of them are not just interested in removing the president, they are interested in removing the whole ticket," she said.

Newsweek reached out to Ocasio-Cortez's office and the Biden campaign via email for comment."

Big fan of AOC. And I disagree.

I am saying it boldly -- if America loses itself in this election, blame the Democrats. And Adam Schiff just diminished himself in my estimation beyond redemption.
I've been blaming their reluctance to play Machiavellian hardball like Republicans for a long time now. They are politics. That isn't the place to play nice, especially as the other party does one underhanded move after another tonwedge their fringe agendas into the mainstream.
Republicans also deserve a great deal of blame for not snuffing out these flames of lunacy decades ago. With each Rep president since Reagan it has gotten harder and harder to extinguish those flames, and instead of being responsible to the People and Constitution they have become a party of party loyalty.
