Scientists actually do know everything about the universe.

"Quantum mysticism is considered by most scientists and philosophers to be pseudoscience or "quackery""

So what do scientists and philosophers know about the mystical experience, which is the vantage point from which Chopra, Gotswami, Capra, and others are seeing what they see? The only reason the critics call the mystical view 'quackery' is because it does not agree with their entrenched materialist paradigm WHICH CONTINUES TO PERVADE THEIR THINKING EVEN IN THE LIGHT OF QUANTUM PHYSICS!

Nonsense. Your so-called mystics are just interpreting science through the distorting lens of religious belief. It is all wishful thinking, confirmation bias and flap-doodle quackery.

Those who have realized their Enlightenment on this planet are few indeed! The rest follow a path they only think is correct, and the current state of affairs on this planet are a testament to that.

And no doubt you think you are one of the Precious few, or that you recognise these members of the master race. Delusions of grandeur again?

Yes, the thread is about what SCIENTISTS know, which means all your mystical flap-doodle is off-topic....

Duh! What 'scientists know' is called 'factual knowledge', which does not tell us what the Universe actually IS. The mystical experience does. It tells points us to the true nature of Reality, which, BTW, is what Buddhism is all about. IOW, my dear, science gives us all the facts, but tells us nothing.

The OP was about what SCIENTISTS know, NOT about what mystics claim to know. So all your mystical nonsense is off-topic and you have hijacked another thread.

If you want to preach about your mystical flap-doodle claim that the big bang was an event in consciousness, then start a blog or start a new thread. Stop derailing other peoples' threads and filling them up with your Chopra-inspired babble.

That is most ignorant statement coming from someone who claims to be a Buddhist. Maybe you were right to begin with: you are a 'Buddhish', an artificial semblance of the real thing; in imitation.

FYI, mystics were around long before science came onto the scene, so what they have told us throughout the ages is complete knowledge. Science is only providing facts and data which they use to make predictions. If you knew anything at all, you would have known the difference between the believer and the mystic. The mystic always goes beyond both religion and reason. In fact, orthodox Buddhism, such as Theravada, is based upon the mystical experience of the Buddha, and not the other way around.

Yes, but the OP actually states that scientists know everything about the universe, which is complete nonsense. You even have stated several times how little we know. But this is all about factual knowledge. In reality, it is the mystic who knows everything about the Universe, in that he knows the true nature of Reality, which is the same everywhere. It is from the true nature of Reality that the entire Universe springs forth, with it's myriad forms. So, you see, the mystic has his eye on the heart of the matter, while the scientist is still nibbling around the edges. Having one's eye on the heart of the matter, my friend, is what is called prajnaparamita, or the Perfection of Wisdom. The scientist is a fool if he actually thinks someday he will know everything about the Universe via his methodology, which is basically dissection and clinical analysis.

The fact is, dearie, that everyone is already enlightened, but most simply haven't yet realized it. Now, as a professed Buddhist, you should know that, but it has become painfully clear that you have little understanding of the spirit enmeshed in the Buddha's teachings.

Secondly, if you knew anything of real importance about Buddhism, you would also have realized that Enlightenment is Nothing Special, and not the 'Precious' you continue to think that it is.

Have you peeled your potatoes today yet?:p

Meh. The same old misdirection and lame ad-homs, you are like a broken record.
All to distract from the thorough debunking of your Precious quantum mysticism in the Wiki article ( among others ), and the truth that your hero Chopra is really a snake-oil seller who preys on the gullible.

If you want to pontificate further about your flap-doodle mysticism, start a blog or start another thread. Though I suspect everyone here is now thoroughly bored with your incessant preachy BS, and your egocentric hijacking of threads, splashing your strange blue ink all over the place.

You might do better on a new-age forum where people are more gullible.

How is that possible? The mystical experience is transcendent of both religious beliefs and Reason. Beliefs are the product of thought; the mystical experience is without thought. It is not a concept about Reality; it is the direct experience of Reality itself.

Zen

A special transmission outside the scriptures;
No dependence upon words and letters;
Direct pointing to the soul of man:
Seeing into one's own nature and attainment of
Buddhahood

Bodhidharma, First Patriarch of Zen (4-6 Cent. AD)

Emperor of China: 'What of the holy scriptures?'
Bodhidharma: 'No holiness is clear, like space'

Taking you back to the beginning:

You inferred a cause to the Big Bang. What causes this cause?

You can't answer because there is no such 'cause'. Such 'cause' is only an idea in your head, one planted there by your teachers and others who told you a lie:

"Everything is caused by something else", and you believed it.

Now you should know better, because the Buddha has shown us that everything arises together, all at once, as it continues in the present. There are no 'things' causing other 'things'; there are only events; actions. That is what the Universe is: an action, even all the way down to 'particles', which collapse into the wave.

Stop pushing Billiard Ball Physics. It's just seeing things through a cat's eye.

You see. In the West, we are taught Spotlight Attention, by which we scan linearly the environment in bits, in order to create a composite picture. But in the East, Floodlight Attention is taught, wherein the entire field of vision is taken in all at once.

Get The Big Picture and stop focusing on only the minutiae.

Now go to your room.:p

If you want to pontificate about mysticism then start a thread about it. It is off-topic here.

On the contrary: the topic is about what we know about the universe. I have shown that science knows very little, and you agree, it seems. The mystical experience is about 'the merging of the observer, the observed, and the entire process of observation into a single Reality', as Mr. Chopra so eloquently put it. So mysticism is about knowing what the nature of the Universe is via union with it, as the Hindus tell us: 'like dye dissolved in water', and 'Thou Art That'.

EDIT: Since all phenomena is empty of self-nature according to Buddhism (Sunyata) and attributeless according to Hinduism, that means there is no inherent self-nature in man as well. Having no inherent self-nature means there is no limit to consciousness as there is nothing to define nor contain it. And since there is nothing to define nor contain it, it is limitless. Being limitless, it is, by definition, universal in nature. Being universal in nature means that it permeates everywhere. Because it permeates everywhere, that is to say, because it is non-local, that means that the Universe is conscious. Since we are integrated 100% with the universe, our consciousness is Universal Consciousness. Self-view is an illusion of the ego. The consciousness by which we see the Universe is the same consciousness of the Universe itself. The consciousness that scientists utilize to gain factual knowledge is that of the Universe, even though they think it is theirs individually. So even factual knowledge comes to man via Universal Consciousness. To realize this is a mystical view. That is all.

I think the best solution is to simply ignore. Fortunately, not too many are impressed with the lines of thought being espoused by gNg. Binder, dundat... not worth the bother of rehashing.

For someone who allegedly has their finger on the pulse of reality it's quite amusing how much goes right over your little head. I suppose that is to be expected however.

Well, thank goodness you caught those two huge eyeballs, eh? Now that's wisdom galore!

BTW, glad to see you changed your mind when seeing the second video with Menas Kamatos.
