Self-criticism in the American Left base

Mock Turtle

Oh my, did I say that!

Countries should do as they did in Cambodia, and cut out all the those nasty thinking classes, but oh dear, what did that do for them!

Oooh look, Trump is on his way with a large scythe! o_O

I mean...
I guess there are so may leftists in the United States.
People who believe in social equality, in economic fairness, in a juster and more egalitarian system.

Do you really think that the Democratic Party is a leftist party?
I mean ...it's filled with speculators, banksters, people who worship the Military Industrial Complex...Big Pharma.

Do you ever engage in self-criticism?
Something like: maybe if we got rid of all these wealthy opportunists...we would recover credibility?

;)

Thank you.
Is self-criticism of the left a real issue,
when self-criticism is generally lacking
in all political tribes?
This seems to be another of your bash
threads, rather than sincere inquiry into
the usefulness of introspection.

Your beloved eccentric Auntie Cristal
It's about LGBTs and about convincing women to become lesbians because men are all piglets?

Because that's what I hear from them. Only
That's what you hear from it's opponents and critics. I doubt you've paid any or much attention at all to Democratic party politics.

Absolutely not.

I am a socialist...so I dream of an America where there is free healthcare.

So it's not a "bash thread". It's a "fight for your rights" thread.

And yet you bash Democrats, & make it about
socialism instead of your title's proffered theme.
So if you let your own thread meander, then I
may follow.

The truth is that in my country almost every party is socialistic.

I have to thank you the United States who defeated the Fascists and let Socialists rewrite the constitutional order.
Thank you USA.

The lefties (the "leftists" - the liberals) - don't own any mirror.
They have turned politics into a religion... a game really.

Some of them who actually don't adhere to any known religion - need a day for self reflection.
They need a day to meet each other somewhere (like their own little church) and concentrate on the positives instead of the negatives.

To keep politics off their minds - they could ride around a donkey or a pony in the backyard of their church. Maybe they could visit the zoo together or something to that effect.:D

Since "Hump day" - Wednesday the 6th of November 2024 - they came to realize how wrong they were - I am suggesting 'Wednesday' as the day of the week - they should meet up.
Yes! They should adopt Wednesday as a 'self reflection' day.

As observed so far on this thread, 'left' and 'right' are defined differently in the USA vs most of Europe.

It isn't which party hob nobs with who that makes it left or right, but the policies/agenda/intentions of people that make them left or right. Those controlling the Democrat party these days seems to be pushing an agenda of controls on speech, religious expression, commerce and industry, what options, choices, opportunity the people will have, the amount of wealth they should be allowed to accumulate, equality of outcome, etc. Right or wrong in intention, those are leftist concepts as leftism is defined in the USA.

And there are some with the intellectual honesty to criticize at least some of that yes. But those who are emotionally tied to a party/agenda/ideology usually don't criticize it.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
As of now, americans have two choices. They either vote on the Republican party or the Democratic party. The former is a far-right party, the latter is not. This means that you are stuck with voting in the Democratic party if you are a leftist.
The Democrats are a far left radical party now. They are no where near center aside from a few blue dog Democrats.
